A Brief Introduction to the Farewell Movie "Rage"

Introduction:

Raging Tide is a classic war historical feature film, and it is also an early film that uses film artistic expression to reflect on the struggle of different ideas and routes within the Party.

directed by Wenzhi Shi and starring Zhang Ping, Zhou Fengshan, Guan Shuzhen, Liu Bingzhang and Zhai Chunhua, it was released in 1963.

This film criticizes the rightist mistakes, and gives a serious warning to the capitulationist line of right opportunists and the great losses it has brought to the China Revolution.

Plot:

Pingjiang County, Hunan Province in p>1927. Following Chiang Kai-shek's mutiny in Shanghai on April 12th, Ma Ri incident broke out in Hunan on May 21st. A large number of party member, workers and peasants and patriots were killed, and the revolution turned from high tide to low tide.

Qiu Jin is the chairman of Nanxiang Farmers' Association. At first, he mistook the enemy for his friend. Unfortunately, he was arrested and escaped during the massacre. The anger of revenge was burning in his chest. He held a firewood knife in his hand and tried to fight with the enemy, but he was badly injured because he was outnumbered. Fortunately, he was rescued by Luo Dacheng, the county Commissioner.

Luo Dacheng studied in the peasant movement workshop. He followed the instruction of Comrade Mao Zedong, re-launched and organized the peasants, and waged tit-for-tat struggles with the enemy, winning one after another and inspiring the masses.

Wang Huaizhi, a right opportunist (Commissioner of the Central Committee), shouted that the peasant movement had gone too far, dismissed Luo Dacheng, and even disbanded the workers and peasants' armed forces. Luo Dacheng later died heroically, and Wang Huaizhi was also killed by the enemy.

At this critical juncture of the revolution, the CPC Central Committee convened the "August 7th Meeting", resolutely corrected and put an end to Chen Duxiu's capitulationism, determined the general policy of agrarian revolution and armed resistance to the massacre policy of Kuomintang reactionaries, and called on the Party and the people to continue the revolutionary struggle.

The former enemy committee headed by Comrade Mao Zedong was established in Hunan and led the world-famous autumn harvest riots.

In the complicated class struggle, with the help of the Party, Qiu Jin changed from a revanchist to a red commander. He responded to Chairman Mao's call, led the Workers and Peasants Self-Defense Forces and staged riots. Finally, he took the rioting troops and followed Comrade Mao Zedong into Jinggangshan.
