What are the functions and characteristics of embossing?
Concave-convex embossing, also known as embossing printing, is a special processing technology in the surface decoration of printed matter. It uses concave-convex mold to make the printed substrate plastically deform under a certain pressure, thus performing artistic processing on the printed surface. Various relief figures and patterns present patterns with different shades, which have obvious relief feeling and enhance the three-dimensional sense and artistic appeal of printed matter.
Concave-convex relief is the transplant and application of relief art in printing, and its printing plate is similar to the arch method used in woodcut watermarking in China.
When printing, the ink is directly replaced by the pressure of the printing machine. The operation method is the same as general relief printing, but the pressure is higher. If the quality requirements are high, or the paper is thick and hard, hot pressing can also be used, that is, the current is connected to the metal master of the printing machine.
Extended data:
Application and development:
Concave-convex embossing technology is mostly used for post-processing of printed matter and paper containers, such as packaging cartons, decorative bottle labels, trademarks, book binding, calendars, greeting cards and so on.
The packaging decoration adopts concave-convex embossing technology and the artistic expression method combining depth and thickness, which makes the appearance of packaging products more perfectly reflected in art. The concave-convex embossing technology includes printing plate making, concave-convex embossing, packaging and other operations.
Gravure printing:
It is suitable for printing high-quality and expensive printed matter, whether it is color or black-and-white pictures, and the gravure printing effect can be comparable to that of photographic photos. Because the cost of plate making is expensive and the printing volume must be large, it is generally one of the less used methods. Suitable for printing securities, stocks, gift certificates, commercial credit certificates or stationery.
With the rapid development of science and technology, today we can use some of the above printing methods to output directly on the medium through the computer. The maturity of electrostatic imaging and laser technology makes it possible to print on demand in small batches with high quality requirements.
