Is Guangdong M from Meizhou?
Meizhou, designated as Guangdong M, actually had a large number of registered vehicles at that time (1993), ranking 12 in Guangdong Province. Soon, Meizhou had its own license plate letters.
Meizhou is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province, located in the northeast of Guangdong Province, at the junction of Fujian, Guangdong and Jiangxi provinces, bordering Longyan and Zhangzhou in Fujian Province in the east, Chaozhou, Jieyang and Shanwei in the south, Heyuan in the west and Ganzhou in Jiangxi Province in the north.
For example: Guangdong M 88888, Guangdong M 99999 and Guangdong M 12345.
Extended data:
The license plate sequence of Guangdong city is determined in 1993, which is defined as follows:
1 and the letter a are the license plates used in provincial capitals, which are uniformly stipulated in the whole country.
2. The letters B-D stand for Shenzhen, Zhuhai and Shantou.
3. The letters E-Y represent the license plates of various prefecture-level cities, which are also arranged according to the number of license plates on vehicles (including motorcycles) in various places at that time. It can be seen that Foshan City (including Nanhai City and Shunde City) was the prefecture-level city with the largest number of vehicles at that time. In other words, Yunfu City was the least at that time. It is precisely because there are many license plates in Foshan that the Provincial Communications Department specially approved Nanhai City and Shunde City to have their own license plate letters.
The letter o is official. Guangdong O is the license code of Guangdong Provincial Public Security Bureau Vehicle Management Office. The license covers provincial party and government organs, enterprises and institutions directly under Guangdong Province, central institutions in Guangdong and administrative vehicles of public security, national security and judicial system in the whole province.
5. Since 1988 Guangdong Province approved the entry of Hong Kong and Macao vehicles, many Hong Kong and Macao vehicles with simple white signs appeared in Guangdong, which brought great convenience to the illegal activities of smuggling vehicles. Therefore, the black Z-plate is reserved for foreign vehicles to facilitate management. There is a "Hong Kong" sign on the back of Hong Kong vehicles and a "Macau" sign on the back of Macao vehicles.
