Industrial design and other majors have won honors such as Guangxi high-quality specialty, Guangxi industrial design talent training mode innovation experimental zone, Guangxi animation creation experimental demonstration center construction unit, central local building film and television animation creation center laboratory, and Guangxi excellent interior design education institution. At present, it is one of the largest training bases for design talents in Guangxi. The college has implemented a training program for senior design talents that adapts to the development of socialist market economy, serves the industry and regional economy, has strong adaptability, and pays equal attention to practical ability and innovation ability. The effect is good, and the employment rate remains above 93% every year.

The College of Art and Design takes the development of industrial design and art design as the leading factor, strengthens the combination of art, technology and economy, and pays special attention to the development of emerging disciplines and marginal disciplines relying on electronic and information engineering technology. Develop discipline groups focusing on design and art, and form a discipline development chain of main disciplines and extended disciplines. The majors under construction are fine arts, calligraphy, fashion design and engineering, advertising, photography and so on.

In recent years, this discipline has published 488 papers in various academic journals at all levels, 92 papers in academic conferences, 38 papers in EI and 18 papers in ISTP. In 2004 and 2008, the National Seminar on Industrial Design Education and Teaching and the second annual meeting of China Digital Media Education and Development Forum were successfully held. Every year, many well-known professors and scholars at home and abroad are invited to teach and exchange in our college, which has had a good influence at home and abroad.

In order to cultivate application-oriented design professionals with strong ability of integrating theory with practice, improve the reputation of the school and expand social influence, students are actively encouraged and organized to participate in various design activities and competitions. In the past five years, students have made gratifying achievements in product design, graphic design, environmental art design, animation and media design, and won nearly 1000 awards in different fields and at different levels. It is one of the institutions with the largest number of awards and high level among similar institutions, and it is far ahead among universities in Guangxi.
