Life in Gao Zhanxiang

Gao Zhanxiang, a native of Tongxian, Beijing, was born in 1935. He worked as a child laborer in his teens. I am diligent and eager to learn, and have studied in Beijing Hongqi University for fifteen years. He has been engaged in literary creation since 1950s, and now he is a writer and calligrapher with high reputation in contemporary China. He used to be the chairman of the All-China Students' Federation, and now he is the vice minister of culture of People's Republic of China (PRC), the party secretary and executive vice chairman of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and the China Artists Association, the China Artists Association, the China Photographers Association and the Chinese Dramatists Association. His main works include: Gao Zhanxiang's Calligraphy Collection, Gao Zhanxiang's Calligraphy Selection, Water Flowers Collection, Breeze Collection, Wei Yan Collection, Literary Theory, Life Lesson, Cultural Industry Management, etc. Now he is an adjunct professor in Peking University and Jiaotong University, and a senior consultant in China Jiuzhou Painting and Calligraphy Institute.

Gao Zhanxiang grew up in a poor family and worked as a worker in a steel factory and a printing factory. He studied hard with great enthusiasm, and insisted on studying at night school in his spare time 15 years. From a child laborer to an advanced culture of a nation, it is a model of self-taught.
