20 10 Shanghai biennale
Biennale has developed into a global cultural phenomenon. In recent years, its institutionalization and homogenization have become the focus of international art reflection and criticism. "Roving Rehearsal" attempts to take Shanghai as the cultural base, test the academic thinking of Biennale on different mechanisms and platforms, and jointly discuss the internal boundary of exhibition-production field, the relationship with social space, the social participation of contemporary art and the challenge of institutional criticism history to the exhibition system itself. In this sense, "roving rehearsal" is a reflection on the contemporary art exhibition system, and the exhibition mechanism of the Biennale can be optimized from this reflection.
The biggest feature of the 8th Shanghai Biennale is the academic structure, which is the carrier of this Biennale. This Biennale focuses on "rehearsal", which is mainly manifested in three aspects: First, the interdisciplinary artistic production mode. Starting from the cross-subjectivity of theater and rehearsal, this Biennale will emphasize the group interaction of creation and promote the exploration and presentation of specific scenes of contemporary artists. Second, the process of contemporary works of art, which is a more attractive and effective visual text; Third, the exhibition tour, which focuses on mobile and dynamic works, is a new mode and structure of the exhibition, focusing on the discussion of the theme, and finally bringing the results back to the main venue in Shanghai.
