Yilan Museum was founded in 1958, then called the Old Museum of Yilan County. During the Cultural Revolution, the museum was severely damaged, most of the cultural relics were lost and the museum was closed. The new museum was officially built on 1999 and officially exhibited on June 17, 2006. Yilan Museum covers an area of 1000 square meters, with a building area of more than 2,000 square meters and an exhibition area of nearly 1000 meters. It is a county-level comprehensive museum.

The museum is a castle-like building with 4 exhibition halls and 4,263 pieces of various cultural relics. Among them, the precious cultural relics 12 16 relate to ancient mammoth ivory bones, Walkenhada caves, utensils of ancient villages in Han dynasty and cultural relics of Liao, Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. The museum comprehensively clarifies the historical context of Yilan, which can be called the epitome of northern history. The first floor of the museum holds a photo exhibition of great men's style all the year round.

The Yilan Museum takes the array of historical relics of Yilan as the basic display, including the cultural relics of Yilan from the Neolithic Age to the Agrarian Revolution, and shows people a relatively complete historical picture of Yilan. The Lan Museum exhibited the early works of Mr. Lv Houtian, the founder of Eye of Yilan and China.
