In this paper, the early embryonic development of Rana nigromaculata in Huaihua Agricultural College was studied. Frogs caught in the field were kept in captivity, eggs were collected in laboratory Petri dishes and cultured at 65 08℃ with water. Based on the main physiological changes and characteristics of embryo formation, the early embryonic development of Rana lateralis with black spots was divided into 26 times, and observed and measured by a photographic stereo microscope. The results showed that the whole complete period from fertilized egg to gill cover lasted 202.87 (5.36) h (n = 9) so far. This paper describes the morphological characteristics of each period and discusses the formation and degeneration of Chuqi. The similarities and differences between Huaihua area and other areas have been reported.
