Why were German military uniforms black in World War II?

Generally, only SS and Gestapo uniforms wear pure black, while Wehrmacht generally wear German gray or Yuan Ye gray (blue-green). In the middle and late period, elite troops, including the SS armored division, began to distribute camouflage uniforms. Usually, Germans generally look black and gray just because black-and-white photos and early color photos have a low imaging level.
