What is wingsuit flying?

Wingsuit Flying, also called short-range sky gliding, refers to athletes wearing flying suits and parachute equipment with wings to fly from airplanes, hot air balloons, cliffs, high-rise buildings, etc. When jumping down, the pilot uses body movements to control the gliding direction and uses the body to perform unpowered air flight. When reaching the safe limit height, the athlete will open the parachute and land smoothly.

Wingsuit flight is divided into two categories: powered wingsuit flight and unpowered wingsuit flight. After unpowered wingsuit flight enters the ideal flight state, the flight speed can usually reach about 200 kilometers per hour. The glide ratio of wingsuit flight is about 1:3, that is, it advances about three meters for every one meter of descent.
