Why is the Bund a symbol of Shanghai?

For more than 100 years, the Bund has been presented to the world as a symbol of Shanghai.

The Bund, also known as Zhongshan East 1st Road, is about 1.5 km long. There are 52 buildings with different styles, such as Gothic, Romanesque, Baroque, Chinese and Western style, which are adjacent to Huangpu River in the east and west, and are called "World Architecture Expo".

Before liberation, the Bund was the political, financial, commercial and cultural center of western powers in Shanghai. The Bund originally refers to the beach land from the old county town of Shanghai to the west bank of Huangpu River on the south bank of Suzhou River, which was opened on 1845.

Beijing suburbs love to go hiking in PK midsummer, kiss the blue of the sea and visit the ethnic minorities in China, the most luxurious tourist train in the world, the British Concession. Later, foreign foreign firms and banks were established here one after another. At the beginning of this century, Shanghai became the financial center of old China because a large number of foreign banks settled in Shanghai. Many banks or consortia are building large-scale projects and luxury buildings on the Bund.

In recent years, some high-rise buildings with modern style have been built in Shanghai. The fusion of old and new buildings is also a true portrayal of Shanghai, a modern metropolis. In just over a century, Shanghai has jumped from a seaside town to the largest city in the Far East.

The buildings on the Bund were built by many architects, not at the same time, but their architectural colors are basically unified and the overall outline lines are surprisingly coordinated. Whether looking from a distance or wandering around, you can feel an elegant momentum. Famous buildings include Dongfeng Hotel, the Bund 12 Dome Building, Customs Building, Peace Hotel, Bank of China Building and Shanghai Building. At night, the towering buildings are more dazzling under the colorful lights.

The Bund is the most distinctive place in Shanghai, and its night view is also the most beautiful in Shanghai. The Bund is the symbol of Shanghai. In addition to appreciating the architecture, there are the old observatory, Huangpu Park, the People's Memorial Tower built in 1865, and the modern architecture standing on the river overlooking Pudong, the Oriental Pearl and the swaying Jinmao Building.

When taking pictures, don't forget the Waibaidu Bridge at the forefront of the Bund, which is a symbol of the border between France and Japan. Taking pictures in front of the old iron bridge feels completely different.
