What are DR and CR medical devices?

With the development of digital technology, medical imaging technology has been updated iteratively, and some new imaging devices have appeared, such as DR (digital radiology) digital imaging and CR (computer radiology) computer imaging.

DR and CR are both imaging devices, which are the result of the improvement of traditional X-ray machine through digital technology. Even so, the imaging methods are completely different.

DR is a direct X-ray conversion technology and digital X-ray photography. The system consists of BUCKY digital image acquisition and control X-ray photography system digital image workstation. In an amorphous silicon image board, X-rays are converted into visible light through a fluorescent screen, and then converted into electrical signals by matrix pixels through a TFT thin film crystal circuit, which are transmitted to a computer, displayed by a monitor or transmitted to a PACS network.

The principle of CR imaging is to replace the traditional film intensifying screen with the imaging panel IP, record the X-ray image with the storage medium, convert the stored signal into optical signal through laser scanning, then convert it into analog signal with the photomultiplier tube, and input it into the computer for processing after A/D conversion, thus becoming a high-quality digital image.

The technical characteristics of DR are small radiation dose and large exposure window. Digital images have the advantages of good resolution, clarity and clear details, and can be post-processed according to clinical needs. Radiology department has no film, and the departments and hospitals are networked to facilitate teaching and consultation.

The technical characteristics of CR The image processing system can adjust the contrast, so it can achieve the best visual effect. The tolerance range of photographing conditions is large; The patient received less X-rays. Image information can be stored and transmitted by magnetic disk or optical disk.

Compared with CR, DR has obvious advantages, clear and accurate images and fast imaging speed. Each patient needs an average of 7.5 points/person for traditional X-ray photography, 6 points/person for CR photography and 2.5 points/person for DR photography.

However, from the price point of view, DR is obviously cheaper than CR, as long as IP board is used to replace the original film cassette in traditional X-ray film cameras. DR needs to buy a brand-new one.

DR and CR will exist for a long time. DR is suitable for fluoroscopy and radiography, and CR is suitable for complex posture. DR is expensive, suitable for large hospitals, and CR is cheap, suitable for small and medium-sized hospitals.
