Type 99 main battle tank (English: Type 99 main battle tank), the abbreviation of ZTZ-99 main battle tank, is a new generation main battle tank of PLA Army. Type 99 main battle tank is mainly developed by No.201Research Institute of China Ordnance Industry Group and produced by China North Industries Corporation. It has excellent protective appearance, uses a lot of composite armor, and integrates the information warfare technology of the new era. Advantages:

125mm main gun has more advantages than western tanks in caliber. Based on the T-72 tank chassis, a new chassis is developed, and its reliability and maintenance cost are very good.

Disadvantages:

Type 99 fire control system was an advanced technology when it was first installed, but the gunner's sight was small, and the accuracy of fire control equipment should be continuously improved. ? The total combat weight is relatively large, and the bearing capacity of many bridges in China is relatively poor. However, with the development of bridges and railways, this defect will be gradually solved in the long run. ? The price is more expensive. As a new three-generation tank, its bicycle price is naturally more expensive than that of the early old tanks. Moreover, because it is a new type of tank, and the production capacity is limited due to military expenditure, the current output is not much, but it is in line with the development idea of "running in small steps" consistently adopted by the PLA and China military industry. ? 125MM gun is bigger than western gun (120MM), but its accuracy and initial kinetic energy are not as good as L44 gun of Rheinmetall. ? The tank itself is a turret and subsystem equipment redesigned based on T72 chassis structure, which can be said to be an upgraded version of T72 in China. There is a big gap between T72 and M 1.
