Portrait photography, how to highlight the subject?

Background light is the light used to illuminate the background. When shooting a portrait, in order to avoid damaging the shaping light of the subject, don't shine the background light on the subject. Therefore, when shooting indoors, there are usually special lights to illuminate the background, and the brightness of the background is adjusted by the lights to make the subject more prominent and increase the depth of the picture space.

There are various changes in background light, including bright background, dark background, medium background, bright and dark background and background with special lighting effects. If you shoot a bright background, you usually need to use scattered light for lighting, so that the shooting effect will be more natural and soft. However, if the background light spot changes, it is more suitable to use spotlight lighting to obtain a good picture effect.

In the studio, the commonly used background light is parallel background light and central background light. Parallel backlight is to put a lamp on the left and right behind the subject to illuminate the background, so that the background produces bright, uniform and soft light effect. Generally, when shooting with this background light, the lighting lamp is placed at a 45-degree angle behind the subject to illuminate the background, and the light source is far away from the background, so that the background light will be more uniform.

The central backlight is to put a lamp behind the main body and shine on the background, and the light emitted will spread from the center to the surrounding, producing the effect of light, which makes the main body set off well. The central background light can highlight the main body well, showing the three-dimensional sense of the picture. If it is not convenient to put the lamp in the center behind the main body, you can also add a honeycomb on the lamp holder to shine on the background from the side to get the background light.

First, dark background light shooting

The portrait effect shot in the dark background makes the picture look serious, while the characters look solemn and mysterious.

Second, the intermediate background light shooting

The middle-tone background light is used in the picture, which has strong atmospheric rendering and uniform background brightness, and shows the main body well.

Third, parallel background light shooting

When shooting, use parallel background light, and put a lamp on the left and right behind the subject. The background is bright, the light is uniform, and the main body is highlighted.

Fourth, the center background light shooting

When shooting, put a lamp behind the subject and shoot against the background, which will produce beautiful lighting effect, highlight the subject and have a more three-dimensional effect.
