The history of Bayi Film Machinery Factory

The company was founded in 1932 and once trial-produced China's earliest movie projector, the Standard 35mm fixed projector. In 1951, the General Political Department of the Central Military Commission took over the agency, rented all its equipment, and formally established a new factory on January 2, 1952. The factory was named the Central Military Commission General Political Department and Film Machinery Repair Factory. In May 1952, the "August 1st" 16mm mobile projector was produced for the first time.

In 1953, the Jiefang brand 101 35mm mobile projector was produced, and all components used were domestically produced. In 1954, the Jiefang brand 102 35mm mobile projector and 7 other supporting new products were trial-produced. In 1957, the Jiefang brand 103 35mm mobile projector was successfully developed. In June of the same year, the factory name was changed to the Chinese People's Liberation Army Bayi Film Machinery Factory. The foot-operated film splicing machine, 16mm film printer, ST-A animation subtitle photography stage and other production equipment developed in 1958 filled the gap in the production of Chinese film production equipment. In 1961, the Jinggangshan brand 103 35mm mobile projector produced by the factory was officially listed as an export product by the country. Subsequently, it successively produced a series of film protection and production auxiliary equipment. After 1966, in addition to providing 26 new production and testing equipment to users across the country, the factory also developed and produced 35mm dual-channel projectors. In 1977, the factory manufactured the FTM-35mm planetarium projector. The Jinggangshan 104-X 35mm xenon lamp projector produced in 1979 has an upgrading significance in the light source reform of China's projectors. Since then, new light source machinery such as the 103-GX 35mm fixed movie projector, 103A-Y and 103A-X 35mm mobile projectors have come to the market. In February 1982, the name of the factory was officially changed to Bayi Film Machinery Factory. During this period, 12 new production products were launched on the market. After 1983, the factory's YLQ program-controlled printing machine won the second prize for scientific and technological achievements from the Ministry of Culture. For more than 30 years, this factory has provided most of the printing equipment for domestic film studios and photofinishing plants. Its products are exported to North America, Europe, Africa and Southeast Asia. Since the 1980s, in addition to producing film machinery, the factory has also been engaged in the development and manufacturing of color printing equipment, photographic equipment, medical equipment, printing machinery and other products.
