Browsing this information, I found that there are two main types of rollover, one is power consumption and battery life, and the other is serious fever. In addition, there are posts analyzing the causes of rollover. It is said that the Samsung OEM that Snapdragon 888 was looking for this time was not TSMC, so it was overthrown; It is also said that the reason for the rollover is that Snapdragon 888 has a super-large nucleus Cortex-X 1, which is 2.3 times that of Cortex-A78, but the manufacturing process is only 5nm. The existing level can't drag this core, and the performance will heat up when it is fully open. ...

After reading all kinds of tests and analysis, I found that they have one thing in common. Most of the evaluations are based on Xiaomi 1 1, and the discussion of netizens is also based on the test results of Xiaomi 1 1. So, is it Xiaomi 1 1 or Snapdragon 888? Xiaomi is not the only mobile phone using Snapdragon 888, so today we will use another mobile phone using Snapdragon 888, vivo X60 Pro+, for testing.

For reference, two mobile phones have been added to this evaluation. One is Redmi K30S speed commemorative edition, which uses Snapdragon's last generation flagship chip Snapdragon 865, and the other is iPhone 12 Pro Max, and its processor A 14 also uses 5nm process technology. When three mobile phones are tested in the same environment, we can know whether Snapdragon 888 capsized.

The battery life test is conducted by video recording. After all, the ISP in the chip consumes a lot of power when recording video. In addition, this test also mobilized two main power consumption items: screen and camera module, so it is targeted.

In order to simulate the real computer environment, the SIM card was inserted into the mobile phone during the test, and the 5G network remained connected. In order to control the variables, the screen brightness is adjusted to the highest level during video recording, and the video output specification is 4K +60 frames.

Through the actual measurement, we found that the 4200mAh vivo X60 Pro+ was dead first and only lasted for 167 minutes. The 3687mAh iPhone 12 Pro Max died for the second time, and it took 180 minutes. The 5000mAh Redmi K30S speed commemorative edition has the longest duration, which takes 247 minutes.

Through the power consumption curve, it can be found that there is no cliff-like power failure in all three mobile phones. During the test, we used a tripod to fix the mirror position, so the micro-pan/tilt of vivo X60 Pro+ is not acceptable, and the test model is fair. No wonder the power consumption of vivo X60 Pro+ is higher.

Friends who have had photography experience should know that the camera module will heat up after a long-term video recording of the mobile phone, so in the process of testing the battery life in the previous link, we sampled the temperature of the camera module.

We sampled five times, and the highest temperatures of the three mobile phones all appeared in the same batch. At this time, the ambient temperature is between 12 and 13.

Vivo X60 Pro+ has the highest temperature, with an extreme temperature of 32.8, followed by iPhone 12 Pro Max, with an extreme temperature of 30.8, and Redmi K30S Extreme Edition has the lowest temperature, with an extreme temperature of only 25.0.

However, due to the system setup, the test data of Redmi K30S speed commemorative edition can only be used as a reference, which is of little significance. In 4K 60 frame mode, the longest continuous recording time of this phone is only 8 minutes, and it needs to be manually re-operated after 8 minutes. In other words, in the video recording test, the camera module does not work continuously, and there is a gap in the middle, while the other two mobile phones can record continuously as long as the memory is not full, which is continuous and the temperature will definitely be higher.

Playing "Peace Elite", the highest picture quality, the highest frame rate mode under the highest picture quality, the body temperature of vivo X60 Pro+ is not as high as the other two mobile phones, which can only explain two points: ① This picture quality setting is a free resource for Snapdragon 888; ② The temperature control of vivo X60 Pro+is more prominent.

It is said on the Internet that Snapdragon 888 fever is mostly an extreme test under extreme conditions.
