Meishan Vocational and Technical College is a full-time public institution of higher learning organized by Meishan Municipal People's Government and in charge of Sichuan Province. It has been selected into the third batch of national modern apprenticeship pilot units, the construction unit of demonstration higher vocational colleges in Sichuan Province, the first batch of modern apprenticeship pilot schools and colleges in Sichuan Province, and it is also one of the first three pilot universities of new professional farmers in Sichuan Province.

The college's predecessor was Sichuan Meishan Normal School for Nationalities, which was founded in 1927 and Leshan Agricultural School in Sichuan, which was founded in 1958. In 2002, approved by the provincial government and reported to the Ministry of Education for the record, the two schools merged to form Meishan Vocational and Technical College.
