How to shoot sunrise and sunset with Canon 600D and 18-55 mm lens? Hope to give me your experience. How big should the aperture of the camera be?
Travel sometimes goes to places that are especially suitable for shooting sunrise and sunset, such as the seaside, the top of the mountain and so on. Spring is a good time to shoot such subjects. First, the sunrise time is not as early as summer, lazy people are not too hard, the sunrise time is not as cold as autumn and winter, and the spring sunset time is more suitable for shooting. Let's talk about the control of some subjective factors including camera operation when shooting sunrise or sunset. What kind of aperture to use Because it is a scenery theme, large scenes are usually shot with a small aperture. And when using a suitable small aperture, as shown in figure 1, the exposure is less, so that the sun becomes a light spot, and there will be a star-awn effect, which will increase the effect of the photo. (Photo 1, Canon A640, Yu Liang Ancient Town, Yuliangba, Anhui) Control your exposure. As we all know, when shooting in the sun, metering is always inaccurate. Either the sun is too bright to see the sky, or the whole picture is too dark, and the sun only becomes a point of light. In general, it is troublesome to get the average exposure value of the sun at different positions in the viewfinder. The quick way is to remember exposure value and use exposure compensation to quickly adjust to the appropriate exposure. If you use a small digital camera, you can press the exposure lock after finding the right exposure. Some cameras without exposure lock can replace the exposure lock when you half press the shutter, so you can move the camera to re-compose the picture. Maybe you want to shoot a bigger sun, and the composition contains a bunch of reeds or cornices of traditional buildings, then you need a telephoto lens to "enlarge" the sun. It seems that the area occupied by the sun in the composition has become larger. So there is no special focal length for shooting sunrise or sunset. The focal length depends on your own topic. Avoid direct sunlight, which is particularly prone to glare. Pay special attention to the control of glare, such as using a hood and a multi-layer coated UV mirror. For details, please refer to how to deal with glare. When the white balance is used to adjust the color tone, the color temperature will change at sunrise and sunset, and the main color tone of the whole picture can be changed according to the adjustment of the white balance, as shown in Figure 2. When shooting the sunrise, you can adjust the setting of white balance to make the picture look redder, which adds this warm tone.
