The story of Pan Ran, a female photographer who explored the ruins.

In the summer of 20 15, Pan Ran and his friends went to Lake Ontario for the summer. When the bus arrived near the destination, she suddenly saw an abandoned water park. "Take a look at the feeling of ten thousand years", she recalled the scene at that time and issued such a sigh.

The abandoned water park opened Pan Ran's new world, and she played in the park for nearly 1 hour. After she came back, she was still wanting more. Those questions and stimuli were too exciting for her to stop thinking.

Since then, Pan Ran began to explore the remains around the Great Lake near his residence. It was not until one day a year later that she realized that the ruins of North America were real explorations, and she began to travel to the United States. For Pan Ran now, the trip to North America is the real "relic exploration". It was also during her trip to North America that she photographed the classic works that are still widely circulated on the Internet: the train cemetery, the new york Theatre, the Pittsburgh school and church, the Philadelphia church, and the abandoned Volkswagen Beetle cemetery. ...

According to Pan Ran, under normal circumstances, the address of this ruin is confidential. If you really want to get the address, you need to find an insider to buy information. Therefore, Pan Ran feels very lucky that such a great place accidentally "bumped into", and this "bump" has also changed her life greatly, as if it were destiny takes a hand.

Everyone in the exploration circle knows that there are two spaceships at the Baikonur space launch site in Kazakhstan that fascinate explorers-the "Blizzard" spacecraft plan made by the former Soviet Union, which was abandoned after the disintegration of the Soviet Union. However, Pan Ran is by far the first yellow woman to successfully reach the "Blizzard" hangar.

Why is there such an obsession? Pan Ran joked, "I didn't particularly want to go, but after into the pit, almost everyone asked me if I had been to Chernobyl? In order to explain a few times less, I simply punched in. " In this way, Pan Ran chose Baikonur, which is more powerful than Chernobyl-the top holy land in the eyes of explorers.

In order to complete the expedition, Pan Ran made preparations for half a year, including special training and field simulation, in order to maximize his physical fitness. Only one teammate accompanied her on this expedition. When they arrived at the nearest airport, they found an English-speaking driver who not only took them to the hotel, but also promised to drive them to Baikonur the next day.

At three o'clock the next afternoon, the driver sent them to the hiking site as promised. At this point, she began a 39-kilometer hiking expedition with a weight of 40 kilograms. Walking 39 kilometers on the flat ground is not an easy task, not to mention the road is full of all kinds of difficulties and obstacles. On the one hand, it is close to the Russian military restricted zone, and it will be arrested if you mistakenly enter the military zone; On the other hand, this is a desert terrain in no man's land. The road conditions are complex, snakes and wolves lie in ambush, rockets are scattered, and dangers are everywhere.

Seeing that there are still 7 kilometers to reach the destination, Pan Ran has a kind of pain of "sitting on the mountain empty, a dead horse is a living horse doctor". The hangar is close at hand, but her physical strength is seriously exhausted and she has to climb two deep ditches. Pan Ran almost collapsed. The desert soil is soft, and she is not tall, so it is difficult for her to climb and jump with support. In desperation, she could only grab the prickly vines on the side and roll over.

Finally, at five o'clock in the morning, Pan Ran and his companions arrived at the hangar. They groped their way in the dark to find the position of the big ship. Nervous, she felt that the air was frozen at that moment, and her heart could be heard in her ears. It was not until the companion confirmed it with infrared scanning that they suddenly realized. That's it! Right in front of you!

Seeing the true meaning of "blizzard", Pan Ran had mixed feelings and burst into tears. This is a sense of religious sanctity, just like pilgrimage. When Pan Ran recalled, he said firmly, "Baikonur is my most unforgettable experience, and there is no one."

The "snowstorm" tour is an important node in the exploration of Panran site, but it is far from over.

After years of exploring the ruins, Pan Ran asked more questions about the "ruins": Why are there these ruins? What's the significance behind these ruins? What's the difference between the ruins in Europe and those in North America? ..... In order to solve, Pan Ran is still on the way to explore.

Most of the relics in North America are modern public buildings, such as churches, schools, hospitals and theaters. Compared with North America, European culture has a long history, leaving many abandoned palaces and castles and heavy industry factories in the industrial revolution in Europe. Pan Ran said that he had planned to go to Europe in the near future, but now it has been shelved because of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Last summer, Pan Ran went to the grassland province in central Canada and visited the abandoned towns and churches left by the first generation of Ukrainian immigrants. "I am also very interested in this history. Since I can't go abroad, I am ready to implement this exploration plan. "

In addition to humanistic photography, Pan Ran is also going to try natural photography: "Formally, it is to compress the delayed video to 15 second fast video, and the theme is currently planned to have flowing starry sky and stormy clouds." Pan Ran plans to shoot in the southern United States this summer.

Luo Xiao's notes:

"Buildings never die, but life lasts forever" is Pan Ran's belief in faithfully and completely recording history and architecture. This extreme sport is a test for her and a demonstration of women's strength when there is a disparity between men and women in the world (30: 1). Petite and tough, rattan-like female strength, and all this is only related to courage.
