I remake a lot of photos. Of course, it is best to scan old photos with a scanner, but sometimes the size of old photos is too large, or for other reasons, the traditional remake method is needed.

First, the professional norms remake

Before remaking, you should make preparations, classify the old photos according to their sizes and colors, and prepare tripods, remakes, cameras, macro lenses, close-up rings, range extenders, clips, tapes, etc.

Fix old photos on the wall or put them on a remake stand. The surface of the old photo must be parallel to the display screen on the back of the camera. The lens should be aimed at the center of the old photo vertically, and try to cover the old photo with macro lens, close-up lens and extended-range lens. Old photos remain flat. If there is an inclined part on the edge of the photo, it can be fixed with clips and tape. The focal length of a lens should be close to that of a standard lens.

The light should be soft and even. If it's a remake in a studio, it's best to use four lamps to distribute the light from four corners at equal intervals. The illumination direction should make an angle of 45 degrees with the lens, and the illumination intensity on each side is the same. There should be no lights on the back of the photo, but anti-reflection.

If the remake is done outdoors, it should be done in the shadow of a house or a big tree. The reverse side of the old photo should be in a dark environment, and sometimes a dark cloth can be hung to eliminate the reflection of the photo.

In order to keep the camera stable, the camera should be fixed on a retake stand or tripod when retaking. You can't use the overhead flash when remaking, and the strong light will be directly reflected into the lens to form a white light mass. Because of the different colors of photos, a exposure value is determined by experiments during remake, and then batch remake is carried out by manual exposure.

Second, the scene emergency remake

Sometimes it is necessary to temporarily retake photos in Xiangxiang village, factories and mines, and there is no condition to be so particular, so it is necessary to retake them quickly with a camera in a simple way. Put the old photos on a bright table or bed without direct sunlight indoors. The key is to make the photo flat. If necessary, put rulers, wooden strips, etc. Flatten the photo at four corners. In order to avoid false shooting, the shutter of the camera should be no less than1/60s, and the sensitivity can be appropriately increased due to insufficient light. Use a two-handed camera to move the shutter over the old photos for observation, push and pull the focal length or change the distance, so that the old photos can be covered with pictures as much as possible.

Sometimes it is inevitable to reflect light when a photo is posted on the wall. An available method is to find an angle with the smallest reflection and shoot it from the side, so that the old photo becomes trapezoidal in the reshaped image, and then it is adjusted into a regular rectangle through the free transformation function of PS. Generally, there are not many emergency remakes on the spot. Just take a few more photos directly with evaluation photometry and peripheral exposure, and choose the best one on the computer when you get home.
