Prepare equipment

1. Macro lens (required index: ★★★★ ★)

The closer the focus distance, the better, especially below 0.3m.

2. telephoto lens (required index: ★★★★ ★)

In addition to taking pictures of distant flowers, it helps to avoid crowds. Don't underestimate the distance between yourself and the flowers, at least 200mm focal length is enough.

3. Wide-angle lens (required index: ★☆☆☆)

Not recommended, because it will shoot a messy environment, such as crowds and background buildings.

4. Tripod (required index: ★★★☆)

Make sure your hands don't shake, which is more helpful to occupy the position and shoot slowly.

5. Small reflector (required index: ★☆☆)

Appropriate fill lights can be replaced by mirrors.

6. Macrolink (required index: ★★★☆☆)

If you don't have a macro lens, consider it. It is a substitute for macro lens and is used for general lens.

In terms of equipment, regardless of macro, telephoto and fixed focus, it is suggested that the lens with the largest aperture should be at least f/4, f/2.8 or below. The tripod need not be too big, as long as it can support the weight of the camera. But because the long focal length will slow down the security shutter and make it easy to shake hands, wearing a tripod will not make you lose a good photo because of shaking hands.

In addition, the small reflector is also very good, which can fill the dark position in sunny days, fill the light in cloudy days and block the rain in rainy days, as long as it is light.

Field combat skills

When visiting the flower show, a sea of people is inevitable. When shooting, you can remember the following elements:

1. Find the most beautiful flowers

Find one or several of the most beautiful, freshest and complete flowers for key shooting. Avoid incomplete flowers, because the freshness of flowers will continue to decline, which should be paid more attention to in the later stage of the flower show.

Step 2 keep the composition simple

Avoid unnecessary crowds and background buildings. Remember that the goal is flowers, not people.

3. Wait patiently and observe carefully

Often the flowers are surrounded by people, remember to wait patiently and respect each other with other photographers. Careful search refers to finding the most beautiful flower in the vast sea of flowers, observing it from multiple angles and taking the most beautiful side.

The use of the reflector mentioned above is actually a small amount of fill light. Sunny day because the sun shines, the sun will give flowers a strong shadow. If you don't like such a strong contrast, you can turn the reflector from bottom to top and reflect the sunlight to the shadow. Similarly, there is not enough light on cloudy days, so it is necessary to reflect the sunlight to a darker place to make up the light. Just make good use of spotlights, and you can shoot backlights in good weather.

Why not use a flash? Because the flash will form a strong shadow, which is unnatural. Moreover, there are enough spotlights in the outdoor environment, and when the light is not enough, it is assisted by a tripod or a reflector.

My actual combat notes

According to past experience, the biggest challenge is how to face the sea of people, so patience ranks first. In the case of a large number of people, it takes some effort to make the photos free of people or buildings. In crowded and noisy places, you should also concentrate on taking pictures calmly. Patience is more suitable for friends who take photos of bees. I remember my father liked to take photos of bees when he went to the flower show. He is very excited every time he takes pictures, and likes to enlarge the bees. Besides taking pictures of flowers, you can also take pictures of the environment on the spot. People who spend flowers in continuous shooting are very interesting. Taking photos of bees is luck, and taking photos of flowers also needs luck. I can't take satisfactory photos every year.
