Photography skills of landscape portraits
The focus of shooting is to fully express the environmental characteristics, which is often achieved with an open perspective and atmospheric composition. Generally speaking, we should first create the theme tone we want to express according to the specific environmental atmosphere; Then, combined with the characters' clothing modeling, matching props and other elements, the scene is blended.
Element 1: Scene? Master the typical characteristics of the environment
Understanding and expressing the characteristics of the environment is one of the key points in shooting landscape portraits, and the generalization and grasp of the typical environment is directly related to the establishment of the theme. I live in Xinjiang all the year round. The geography here is very rich, including vast Gobi, millions of years of Populus euphratica, vast grasslands, majestic snow-capped mountains, clear lakes and winding rivers. When choosing a shooting scene, we should establish the shooting theme according to the characteristics of the scene and adopt appropriate expression techniques to make the characters and the scene better set each other off.
Alpine wheat field
This scene is a rolling Tianshan wheat field, and the most representative scenery of the alpine wheat field is a cylindrical high barley pile. Snow-capped mountains and pine forests in the distance, grasslands and wheat fields in the vicinity echo each other from afar. Shooting in such a scene focuses on vast wheat fields, huge wheat stacks and rich saturated colors. The characters in it can show a reverie and feeling of mature season. Suitable for shooting when the weather is clear, with blue sky and white clouds, golden wheat fields and rich color levels. Because the scene is wide, we mainly use natural light, especially side light to shoot. Under such light conditions, the color is fully expressed, the texture is outstanding, and the three-dimensional sense of characters and wheat stacks is stronger.
A desolate desert
This scene is the Kumtag Desert, which is inaccessible within 8km of Fiona Fang. Desert is characterized by dry, barren and wavy texture, especially the rhythm of sand ridges is very good, and the color change in the morning and evening is also one of the typical characteristics of the environment. In such an environment, it is suitable to combine point, line and plane, and use telephoto to compress the picture. Because shooting is often based on the rhythm level of sand, the sky can be omitted as appropriate when composing music; You can also make full use of diagonal lines (such as sand ridges) to obtain a vivid and symmetrical layout structure. In grasping the light, we should try our best to seek the change of light and shadow, especially to lengthen the shadow of the characters by using the oblique backlight in the morning and evening to enrich the level of the picture.
Element 2: people? Plan the appropriate location and proportion.
Landscape portrait framing should be decided according to the scene environment and expression, the picture should be concise and the subject should be prominent. Judging from the scenery, the vision is mainly based on the scenery, and the area occupied by the characters is very small, but it can make the finishing point. At this time, the face and expression of the characters are weakened, and the overall image temperament and implied theme are enhanced by modeling and posture. Mid shot is an organic combination of full-length portrait and environment, and it is a typical performance of landscape portrait. Close shot? For example, seven-point photos and half-length photos tend to depict characters, so we should grasp the characteristics of the scene and echo the characters. The key is that the position of the characters in the picture should match the density of the landscape, otherwise it will give people a sense of disharmony.
Regarding the position and proportion of characters, I have several suggestions to share with you.
1. If the landscape has prominent points, or it is necessary to arrange the foreground, you can consider arranging the interesting points of the landscape near the golden section, while the characters are placed in the interesting center of the whole picture, which echoes in a balanced way.
When the characters are close to interesting points in the environment, it is more appropriate to use wide angle to express them.
If the characters are far away from the interesting points in the environment, or in order to show the relationship between the local environment and the characters, telephoto shooting is suitable.
2. If the scenery is better? Ping? Do not highlight the key points, the proportion of characters should not be too large, and one third (or so) of the picture is a very stable position, which can highlight the characters well.
The shooting time is around 2 pm, and the light is the top light. The character is located on the left side of the screen 1/3, and? Golden section? The composition is regular and the proportion of the picture is harmonious.
3. The relationship between the horizon or other horizontal lines and the position of the characters is the most important. You can put the horizon on 1/4 or even the edge of the picture, and never let the sky and grass occupy half. Pay more attention to balance when characters and diagonal lines cross in the picture.
On the banks of Sailimu Lake, you can also photograph the romantic feelings of the seaside in summer. To express the vastness of scenery with a wide angle, we should pay special attention to the position and proportional relationship between horizontal lines such as waterfront, horizon, waves, distant mountains and clouds and characters.
4. When using wide angle, the characters should be arranged in the center of gravity (near the middle) of the picture to avoid excessive deformation. Horizon? Arc change? It should also be considered before shooting, and it can be slightly adjusted later.
People are placed in front of the picture because the wide-angle lens has? Near, big, far and small? Does the perspective feature of the visual role change? Big? , and too flat scenery behind more harmonious, become prominent.
Element 3: light? Grasp different lighting conditions
Generally speaking, the best shooting time is two or three hours after sunrise and before sunset. At this time, you can use backlight, side backlight, side light and other different light angles, with soft light, strong three-dimensional sense, bright colors and rich layers. For example, desert and other scenes are monotonous in color and lack of contrast between light and shade on cloudy days; Only in the sun can sand waves rise and fall and be magnificent. Of course, it is not suitable for shooting at any time in sunny days. For example, the sun is too high at noon, and the desert surface reflects each other after receiving light. Strong reflection will make the whole desert look like a whiteboard, which looks stiff and dazzling. Only one hour after sunrise and one hour before sunset are the best shooting time.
On cloudy and cloudy days, outdoor light is mainly scattered light, and people are not affected by the angle of light irradiation. At this time, there is more room for choosing framing and composition. My personal favorite is cloudy weather after rain, which is the best weather to shoot landscape portraits: the sun is flickering in large white clouds, and there will be local lights with different angles and strengths. When this kind of light (or this kind of light) falls on people, it often gets very high-quality light and shadow effects.
Headlights (Front Side Lights)
The shooting time was around 17 in the afternoon. There were almost no white clouds in the desert sky, and the light was strong. Using the side backlight angle, the elongated projection on the ground extends the changing trend of the picture and the sense of spatial distance, making the characters stand out.
Side light or side backlight is an ideal light condition for location shooting, which can outline the lines of people and scenes and clarify the ups and downs and line changes; Strengthen the rendering of atmosphere and enhance the visual impact; The contrast between light and shade of the picture is strong, which is more stereoscopic and can show richer levels. If necessary, you can use the reflector and flash to fill the light on the front or side of the character reasonably.
Ceiling lamp:
The shooting time is around noon 12. It has just rained and the sky is clear and transparent. The scenery is extremely bright under the illumination of the dome light, and the composition avoids large-scale shadows. The whole painting is very pure.
It seems that the most difficult light to use, if well controlled, its shooting effect is still very good. Especially for the sky and clouds, wide-angle shooting must pay attention to the hierarchical performance of the sky, and thick clouds can enrich the picture extremely well.
