How to choose tango shoes

1) Shoe soles: Tango shoes are generally divided into two soles. One is a normal cowhide sole (called Suela in Spanish). This kind of leather is also a common daily leather shoe.

Use the bottom. Its characteristics are hard and wear-resistant, long service life, not easy to slip, and it can be used to walk in the street.

Another tango sole is suede cowhide sole (Cromo in Spanish). This kind of sole is much softer than the previous one, but it is not as wear-resistant as the previous one and has strong grip, so it is not suitable for walking in the street.

For male and female dancers, the feeling of feet touching the floor is very important. Especially in tango dance, the contact between the feet and the floor needs to be very sensitive.

For girls, it is more necessary to tighten the instep from time to time to show the beauty of dance. If the sole is too hard, there is no way to feel the floor and straighten the instep. So now most dance shoes are made of soft cowhide soles.

Of course, if a friend wants to wear such beautiful tango shoes for a long time, then he can also choose hard cowhide soles. Sometimes you can show off on important occasions.

2) Width of toe (toe and sole): This is an important place when choosing dancing shoes. When dancing, the opening of five toes plays a very important role in maintaining the stability of the body, so be sure that your toes will not feel oppressive in your shoes and can all land, and there is no phenomenon that one toe squeezes on the other toe.

The width of the front of the shoe should not be too loose, which is not conducive to stabilizing the front position of the foot. When we choose new dance shoes, it is best to make the front part slightly tight, that is, the feet feel tightly wrapped and will not be crushed to deformation.

Because if the upper of tango shoes is leather, it will loosen after a long time. If the upper is not leather (there is no stretchable material), choose shoes that just wrap the forefoot. I have always suggested that you choose cowhide dancing shoes, which are breathable and flexible. Don't give up comfort for beauty.

3) Heels of dancing shoes: This problem is not very big for boys, because the heel workmanship of boys' tango shoes is basically the same, except that some heels are slightly higher and some heels are lower, which are adjusted according to individual foot types. Girls' tango heels are very particular. There are usually two processes.

One is that the heel and sole are separate, not a whole. The other is that the heel and sole are integrated and connected together.

The advantage of the first technique is that the heel can be made thinner and more beautiful. The painted heels on the market are rich in color, smooth in surface, thin and long, and all of them are glued to the heels. The disadvantage is that if the glue is not firm enough, or for a long time, it is easy to shake and not easy to stand firm. It is not very practical for professional or long-term dancers. But if these shoes are just for performance, they are not often used, and there is no problem. The appearance is dazzling.

The advantage of the second process is that the heel and sole are connected together, and the fastness is much stronger than that of the first process. It is a good choice for dancers who often have to dance training, without worrying about falling or shaking. However, because of the characteristics of this process, there is no way to make the heel particularly thin, which is better than the first process in terms of aesthetics.

Now let's talk about the height of the heel. Generally, the heel height of tango shoes can be 5cm- 10cm. Beginners generally recommend using shorter heels, usually between 5 cm and 6.5 cm. 1-2 years later, girls can try to increase the heel height by 6.5cm-8cm after their ankle strength keeps up.

More professional dancers generally choose the height of 8cm-9cm. However, if most dancers choose heels for dancing or training, they are generally in the range of 7.5cm-8.5cm, which is the comfortable height for ordinary people to lift their ankles.

When performing, you usually choose 9cm- 10cm high heels. At this time, dancers actually dance with the strength of their toes most of the time, and their heels hardly touch the ground, so the height of their heels does not affect their dancing.

This heel height is not recommended for dancing, because dancing on tiptoe for a long time will cause discomfort. Unless you are a professional dancer (such as ballet), you are used to supporting on your toes. For more topics about high heels, please refer to here.

4) Whether the heel is closed or open (boys don't have this choice): This also depends on the individual's foot shape. When you try on dancing shoes, take a walk to see if the heels are loose. Generally, people with narrow heels are more likely to loose their shoes.

5) Also, see if the insole of dancing shoes has a thick lining. Some brands of dancing shoes are padded with soft lining, which can relieve foot fatigue caused by long-term dancing. But this is not the most important thing, because when the dancer's level is gradually improved, her feet will become stronger and less tired. However, for beginners, or people who have been on the dance floor for a long time and trained for a long time, this lining is a timely gift.

Generally speaking, boys' shoes are easier to choose than girls' shoes, because they mainly focus on 1 and 2. Girls should pay attention, but the most important thing is 1, 2, 3. My advice to you is that when choosing shoes, consider these five parts first, and then consider the aesthetics according to the situation of individual feet. Instead of putting beauty first and making your feet suffer.
