Joseph Koudelka’s unrelated beginnings

Koudelka originally studied aeronautical engineering, which was completely incompatible with art. At the age of twenty-three, as soon as he graduated from Prague Technical College, he devoted himself to the aviation industry and worked as an aeronautical engineer for seven years. And he used his free time to work as a guest photographer at the theater where a satirical play was performed once a month. Because he did not have enough funds, he felt that he could not build an aircraft engine that maintained a minimum level of safety, so he gave up this career and began to turn to photography wholeheartedly.
