doyoudo Xiaobai’s PS course lesson 1 notes: PS basic functions

I studied the PS course "Learning Photoshop from Zero Basics, From Novice to Master in 18 Lessons" taught by doyoudo Xiaobai at Weiku. I compiled some notes while listening to the class. Don't blame me if you don't understand the notes, please read them in conjunction with the course.

3. Add small decorations: Graphics Tool - Polygon Tool ——Adjust the number of sides to 3 and it will become a triangle. Hold down Shift to square the triangle. Use the move tool to move it to the appropriate position. Double-click the polygon layer to change the color. Blending mode (soft light).

4. If you want more triangles, you can copy the layer with Ctrl+J, or you can hold down the Alt key and drag the triangles.

5. Resize: Ctrl+T to bring up Free Transform, hold Alt+Shift to scale proportionally with the center point as the axis.

6. Add variety: Pick two triangles at random and adjust the blending mode (linear light) and opacity.

7. Text tool: Enter the text you want - use the move tool to move it to the appropriate position - double-click the text to adjust the size, font, thickness, spacing, color, etc. - adjust the opacity.

Part B: Familiar with the basic functions

1. Create a new canvas: Generally speaking, the units used for width and height are pixels (1280×720 pixels, resolution 72, RGB color). If printing is required, adjust the resolution to at least 300 and switch the color mode to CMYK.

2. Import materials: drag pictures directly from the folder and place them on the canvas. Or select "File" - "Open" and before dragging the material into the original canvas, check whether it is a locked layer. If so, double-click to unlock it or place the mouse on the lock and click.

The difference between the two methods of importing materials: the former displays pictures within the maximum display range that the canvas can carry, will not exceed the canvas, and is embedded in smart objects. The latter exists as a picture in the canvas, and when dragged over, it is dragged in at its original size.

To adjust the size of the picture, use Ctrl+T to transform it freely, Alt+Shift to zoom in on the center point as the axis, and Shift to move the picture vertically. After adjusting, release your hand and double-click or press Enter to confirm.

3. Mixing mode:

(1) Normal, dissolved.

(2) Darken, multiply, deepen, linear deepen, darken.

(3) Lighten, filter, color dodge, linear dodge (add), light color.

(4) Overlay, soft light, strong light, bright light, linear light, point light, solid color mixing.

(5) Difference, exclusion, subtraction, division.

(6) Hue, saturation, color, and brightness.

Use the up and down keys or the mouse wheel to switch between blending modes.

When coloring, you don’t want to cover the line drawing, so use Multiply (the line drawing layer is placed on top, and the coloring layer is placed below).

4. After adding text, click once on the text layer and use the move tool to drag its position as desired.

5. Text background: Create a new blank layer - drag the blank layer under the text layer - Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) - Draw a rectangular strip under the text - —Gradient Tool (G).

How to use black to white gradient to create white to transparent gradient? Click on the small label in the lower left corner and select white. Click on the small label in the upper right corner and set the opacity to 0.

In the rectangular selection, hold down Shift and draw a straight line horizontally from left to right, then release your hand to get a long gradient strip from white to transparent. Ctrl+D cancels the selection. If it feels too white, you can adjust the opacity of the layer.

6. Color correction command: First press Ctrl+Shift+Alt+E to stamp all current display effects into a new layer. Do not select Image - Adjustments - Color Balance, but find "Create New Fill or Adjustment Layer" at the bottom of the Layers panel, select "Color Balance", and select "Levels" after adjustment.
