Take a picture of the tail in late autumn! Problems often encountered in landscape photography
Seize the opportunity to shoot
Many people will ask, why go to the same place, some people take photos with rich light and shadow levels and orderly light and shade, while others take photos that are dull? Look at the contrast:
Contrast 1- missed opportunity-sunset
Every day at sunrise and sunset is the most abundant stage of light and shadow, and it is also the prime time for photography (20 minutes before and after sunrise and sunset is the best time). When I went to the shooting location, the sun had already set and I had to come back another day.
Comparison 2- Appropriate Time (Photographer B- Nut Peanut)
In the morning and evening of the day, the sun is at a low angle, and the shadows and light colors of the scenery can make the picture rich and interesting, which is also an essential element of a good photo. Of course, in addition to the choice of time points in a day (different latitudes and locations, the rising and falling time of the sun is different, which can be queried in combination with the weather App), the season selection corresponding to the shooting location is equally important. Generally speaking, the exchange of two seasons is the best time, in which winter turns to spring and autumn turns to winter is the peak season for photography.
Bad weather can also produce large films.
But sometimes, despite repeated confirmation before travel, there will still be sudden weather conditions. If you go to the shooting location and find that the weather is not as good as you think, even it is stormy, foggy and gloomy, don't be so gloomy, it is better to create something interesting!
Haze photos are often encountered in landscape photography.
The above picture shows the sunset scene taken by photographers at different times in Baisha Village, Huizhou. When I first went, the weather was bad, and a large cloud covered me, so I couldn't see the light of Jesus pouring into the cloud. Sunlight can't penetrate the clouds, and the picture is dim.
Ink painting is a common late style to deal with smog weather (photographer B- Nut Peanut)
But at this time, it is the opportunity for photographers to think about clever generation. Since there is no light and shadow, it is better to turn this photo into a pure white minimalist style, which not only avoids the dull feeling, but also has the artistic conception of ink painting.
The depth of the scene leads to the blurring of the scene
Many people have a big aperture worship psychology when taking pictures, blindly advocating blur and shallow depth of field. Although it is a good way to highlight the subject when shooting people or still life, it should be used with caution when shooting scenery. Aperture has two major purposes, one is to control the amount of light entering and the other is to control the depth of field.
Small aperture can make the whole picture clear (picture from photography tribe)
The small aperture of F7. 1-F 16 is generally used when shooting scenery. When using a large aperture, the clear part of the picture is limited, although it will make the photo look rich? Professional sense? But this is not suitable for the presentation of the big landscape; Moreover, the large aperture makes the depth of field smaller, the camera moves back and forth and the focus is not accurate, and even the main scene is blurred. In addition, the maximum aperture is also accompanied by the problem of soft imaging. The more you enter the camera, the more obvious it becomes. It is suggested to use a small aperture of F7. 1-F 16 to make the shooting scene sharp and clear.
Themless composition
In the face of endless beauty, photographers are often confused, and the lens can't completely cover the scenery in front of them. How to make a choice? First of all, the main body of the picture is important, which can clearly let the audience know what you are expressing. If there is no theme or the selected theme is not prominent enough, it is difficult for the audience to stay on the screen, in other words, it is difficult to leave an impression. Therefore, before shooting, you need to be clear about what you want to express. Attractive landscapes include prominent colors, unique subject shapes and special landscapes.
Mirror contrast combination
Having found what we want to express, the next step is how to use composition to make the picture more beautiful. When shooting landscapes, we often use contrast composition, guide line composition, frame composition and other composition methods. These are all good composition methods, focusing on the eyes and impressing the audience.
How to shoot when the light ratio is large
Scenery shooting often encounters scenes with strong contrast between light and dark. For example, when a picture contains a bright sky scene, the sky will be exposed normally, the ground will be darkened and details will be lost. Or the ground is accurately exposed and the sky is overexposed; If you don't have any accessories at hand, you can try to record with the camera's HDR function.
Of course, the best way is to take a gradient gray filter (GND) with you, which is almost a necessary accessory for landscape photographers. It is often used for sunrise/sunset, beach/coast, ground scene photos containing the sky and any time when some light details of the photos need to be preserved. Graded gray filter has different dimming levels, generally ND4 or 8 level is enough. With such a small filter, we can balance the light ratio difference of the picture and get high-quality photos with rich layers.
How to create a sense of space
When shooting outdoors, the less equipment you carry with you, the better, so prepare the lens according to the shooting purpose before you leave. Generally speaking, wide-angle/ultra-wide-angle lens is the most commonly used in landscape photography, which is suitable for shooting vast scenery and contains more elements in the picture; The telephoto lens allows you to shoot farther, stand in place and take a flexible view, and choose more angles.
However, it should be noted that if you want to create a sense of space in the picture, you may wish to shoot with a wide-angle lens. Taking mountain scenery as an example, a wide angle will highlight the sense of space between the front and back mountains, and if you shoot with a telephoto lens, the distant mountain will be enlarged and appear on the same plane as the nearby mountain.
The telephoto will make the distant moon look on the same plane as the nearby tower.
Because from the perspective, wide-angle can reflect or even exaggerate the physical laws of the near big and far small, and the performance on the screen is to exaggerate the sense of space and let the audience be there; Telefocus, on the other hand, compresses images in space into a plane.
Better bring a tripod.
As I said before, it is best to use a small aperture to shoot scenery, but opening a small aperture will reduce the amount of light entering. If you are holding a camera, always pay attention to whether the shutter speed is above the safety shutter. If you have a high demand for image quality, or you can predict that the lighting in the shooting environment is not ideal, you need to shoot children's shoes with flowing waterfalls or star tracks at night, remember to bring a tripod! Autumn is a scene that many photographers chase. Determine the destination, prepare the equipment to clear the blind spot, and take the time to shoot at the tail of late autumn!
