Venue photography tips camera settings
What are the techniques for taking photos at the conference venue? What kind of camera settings? Please see below!
There are three main places involved in conference photography: sign-in desk, VIP hall and main venue.
Take an empty shot. The layout of the general panoramic shooting venue, VIP hall, and check-in desk. Special detail photography (venue decorations), such as close-ups of trophies prepared for award distribution, etc.
2. Photograph the sign-in desk. Panoramic shots of guests signing in, close-ups of hostesses wearing corsages for important leaders. Special attention should be paid to the arrival of leaders and VIPs, signatures, greetings by the organizers, and handshakes.
3. Shooting in the VIP hall. A medium shot captures the conversation between leaders or VIPs, including greetings and exchanging business cards. It is usually combined with the background furnishings to describe the meeting place.
4. Photograph the tea break. Tea breaks are mainly used to shoot casual conversations between guests, and generally use medium shots.
5. Shoot the speeches of leaders and distinguished guests. At the beginning of the meeting, the host uses a close-up shot for his opening remarks. The stage is generally high and it is not suitable to take a frontal shot. Otherwise, only one head is exposed on the stage, which does not look good. The correct shooting angle is 45 degrees. The microphone cannot be connected to the mouth or block the face of the leader who is speaking. Also, be careful not to have background dividing lines on the head of the leader. Basically, close-ups are used in this scene, but panoramic shots can also be taken during speeches. Pay attention to capturing the expression of the leader who is speaking. Panoramic shot of people attending a meeting.
6. Take a group photo. The shooting of group photos and meeting records is different and very demanding. The requirements for the number of people and the indoor and outdoor light environment are very high, and whether there is a standing shelf is also very important. Post-production is also very troublesome, and it is not just a simple enlargement! It requires fine computer light and dark adjustments, adding words, scanning fees, and correcting photo defects (such as closed eyes). Generally, photographers have familiar color enlargement shops, and they can enjoy preferential prices or even free of charge. While charging some fees, the most important thing is to ensure the quality of the photos. Photograph the party. Mainly shots of performance shooting, game shooting, toasts between leaders and VIPs, and interactions between actors and audiences. Pay attention to the vividness of the pictures.
7. Make temporary arrangements and adjust the shooting plan according to the organizer’s requirements or changes in conference activity procedures.
How to take group photos
Nowadays, group photos are required at various meetings, and even more so when students from various schools graduate. Therefore, it is necessary to understand and master the technical skills of taking group photos.
A good group photo should meet the following five requirements:
1) The layout of the group photo is reasonable and substantial.
2) There is no obstruction in the front and rear rows.
3) The people in the front row and the last row are clear.
4) There is no perspective distortion of the front row of heads being large and the rear row of heads being small.
5) No eyes closed.
To achieve the above five points, you must master the following shooting essentials.
1. A standard lens should be used
The angle of view of a standard lens is consistent with that of the human eye. When taking a group photo with a wide-angle lens, perspective distortion will occur. People in the front row are close to the camera and their heads are large. , the characters in the back row are far away from the camera and their heads are small. Therefore, you cannot use a wide-angle lens when taking group photos. If you use a zoom lens to take group photos, you should also choose the 50mm focal length.
2. Selection of aperture and shutter speed
The characteristics of a group photo are: the characters are still and have a large depth. To obtain a greater depth of field, you generally have to use a small aperture and a slow shutter speed. When taking a group photo of 20 to 30 people, the aperture should be f/5.6 to f/8; when taking a group photo of 60 to 70 people, the aperture should be f/8 to f/11; when taking a group photo of more than 100 people, the aperture should be f/11 to f/16. It is best to use a shutter speed of no less than 1/30 second to avoid sudden shaking of individuals during shooting. Of course, in poor light conditions, in order to ensure sufficient depth of field, the shutter speed has to be sacrificed, but generally it cannot be lower than 1/8 second.
3. Use a tripod and shutter release cable
Because taking a group photo requires a larger depth of field, a smaller aperture is often used to shoot. At this time, the shutter speed is slower. In order to prevent "Hand shake" occurs in the camera, affecting the clarity of the picture, so a tripod must be used to stabilize the camera when taking pictures.
4. In order to avoid obstruction by the front and rear rows, the gradient between the front and rear rows should be large
When taking a large group photo, it is best to use tables and chairs to arrange the queue, which can make the front and rear rows more compact, so that Use depth of field more effectively to take clear photos. The arrangement of the queue is generally that the first row is for stools, the second row is for standing on the ground, the third row is for stools, and the fourth row is for tables. If there are more people, one row can be squatted in front.
If you use the stone steps in front of the building to take a group photo, you should pay attention to the crowd formation. No matter how many people there are, they must line up one level apart (that is, there should be one level of space between the front and rear rows), so that This will prevent the front row from blocking the back row.
The composition of a group photo is very important. Do not put too many stools in the front row, which will cause the formation to be slender, the portraits of the characters to be small, and the composition to be ugly.
Generally, the number of stools in the first row of a group photo can be calculated by the following formula:
Number of stools = number of people in the photo/5
For example: 100 people taking a photo , the number of stools = 100/5 = 20 means a group photo of 100 people, and 20 stools at the front row of leadership seats is enough.
If you take a group photo of more than 100 people, it is best to place the tables and chairs in an arc with the camera as the axis, because the clearest focal plane of the lens is on the arc with the focal length of the lens as the radius. . Therefore, by using an arc-shaped formation to shoot, there will be no situation where the characters on both sides are not very clear, which is common in group photos, thus ensuring that the characters in the middle and on both sides are equally clear.
5. Selection of light
For group photos, it is better to use soft natural light. Direct sunlight and backlighting should be avoided as much as possible. The time should be chosen between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Do not take photos under the shade of trees to prevent stained faces.
6. Focus selection
According to the principle of depth of field, the lens should focus on the first 1/3 of the depth of the entire queue. For example: If there are five rows of people, the focus should be on the middle figure in the second row. This can more effectively use the depth of foreground and back depth to take a group photo with clear front and rear.
7. Composition method
The composition layout of the group photo requires that the top is wide and the bottom is narrow to leave space for the sky and the ground, leaving a little room on the left and right to fill the picture as much as possible.
8. You should concentrate when taking pictures.
Before taking pictures, check to see if there is any situation in the queue where the front row blocks the back row. If so, you should adjust the position. Raise your hand before pressing the shutter button to remind everyone to pay attention and avoid eyes closing or shaking. In addition, when taking group photos for the first time, you should avoid nervousness and focus on accurate exposure, precise focus and composition. Otherwise, any small mistakes and mistakes will cause irreparable losses, because most group photos cannot be retaken. of.
