What is the dichotomy?

Triangular composition refers to the horizontal division of the picture into three parts, and each sub-center can be put together with the main form, which is suitable for the main body with multi-form parallel focus.

Trigonometry, sometimes called TIC-tac-toe composition, is a common composition method in photography, painting, design and other arts. In this method, the photographer needs to divide the scene with two vertical lines and two horizontal lines, just like writing the Chinese character "well". In this way, you can get four intersections, and then you can focus on one of the four intersections.

Application of three-point composition method

Trigonometry is very common in landscape photography. Whether it is a city landscape or a natural landscape, you can use this composition technique as long as there is a horizon. See if the photographer wants to show the beauty of the sky or the beauty of the ground. For example, when shooting from a height, in order to show the beauty of the ground or sea, the horizon or sea level is arranged on the horizontal line above.

If the afternoon sunset is beautiful, set the horizon on the line below. When the sky is beautiful, as long as the horizon is placed on the line below, the beauty of clouds can be better displayed. If you shoot a boat on the water, you can consider whether to put it above or below according to the situation, which has a lot to do with the location.

It is difficult to judge how to arrange the position of the horizon when composing a composition with the trisection method, which part is the key content and which part accounts for a large proportion in the picture.

Triangulation is not a perfect composition. If you only shoot according to this composition in the future, it will cause a lot of negative space in the picture. Composition can be combined with each other, for example, trigonometry and symmetry composition when using triangles to make the picture look full.

You can also add a guide line to this space, so that the work will be more dynamic, and it will be easier to attract the attention of the audience and guide to the theme you want to express. The use of the dichotomy is very flexible.
