Deep space photography steps

I. Erection of the equatorial instrument

1, take out the shelf/box/main mirror.

2. Set up a tripod, roughly facing the north of N or the north of the shelf.

3. Take out the declination instrument frame and lock the vertical rod screw of the base, but don't lock it (remember), which is convenient for left and right adjustment.

4. Lock the tray support to ensure that the three tripods will not slide.

5. Adjust the level of the tripod (roughly enough to ensure the stability of the equipment).

6, thick to the polar axis, let the polar axis mirror see the Polaris first.

7. Install the manual control panel/cable/connected battery of the magnetic declination meter to ensure that the battery and cable will not be kicked by feet.

8. Use the mobile phone software to accurately align the polar axis (or look at the time indicated by the manual control panel when starting).

9. Lock the elevation of the base and the left and right adjustment screws. At this time, you can lock the base stud screws.

? (Be careful not to affect the polar axis, sometimes mechanical stress will cause the base to move slightly. )

Second, the equipment connection and balance adjustment

1. Mount the main mirror and the heavy hammer, loosen the locking wrench of the warp and weft shafts, and roughly adjust the balance.

2. Install the viewfinder (or laser pointer bracket), find the appropriate star in the eyepiece, and adjust the viewfinder to be coaxial.

3. Install a coma mirror/adapter ring/camera (it is best to install one at home) and put the camera belt on the main mirror.

4. Adjust the eyepiece barrel to the vicinity of the camera focus mark, and lock the focus barrel (to ensure the subsequent balance unchanged).

5. Loosen the iron ring, rotate the main mirror, turn down the camera, and lock the iron ring roughly in the direction of the heavy hammer.

6. Install the star guide mirror/camera (when focusing the star guide mirror at home, find a star and lock it, remember not to face the moon or the scenery). When installing, the opening of the star guide mirror and the opening of the main mirror can be in the same direction.

7, accurately adjust the balance, balance the shaft by moving heavy objects; The weft axis is balanced by loosening the hoop and moving the main mirror back and forth.

(Note that the camera mouth position does not slide), and roughly lock the iron ring after moving;

8. When the two axes are unlocked, when the main mirror is pushed at will, it can stop quickly, and there is no tendency to continue moving. If there is a tendency to continue moving, the direction of continuing moving is heavy.

9. Lock the iron ring completely and adjust the balance.

10. Accurately calibrate the viewfinder (or laser pointer) to be coaxial with the camera observation window.

1 1. Check the polar mirror and correct the bending accurately (the equatorial telescope will bow slightly after the main mirror is equipped with a heavy hammer).

12. The main mirror moves to the initial position, the opening of the main mirror faces Polaris (visible after correcting the taper error), and the weight rod is vertical to the ground.

13, lock the warp and weft wrench (the primary mirror can be rotated to any convenient position in the above steps).

Third, computer preparation.

1. Install the camera cable release device, star guide cable and camera cable. If appropriate, tie them up and turn on the camera.

? (It can also be connected in front of the balance. Be careful not to affect the rotation of the equatorial plane, get stuck or the wires fall off. )

2. Set the table, connect the laptop and turn it on (the power supply is not described).

3. Connect USB-hub and camera/guide cable (USB cable of camera can be added to transmit photos in real time).

4, preliminary check the operation of the computer system

Fourth, the theme of calibration and composition.

1, equatorial instrument starts.

2. Perform the three-star calibration, and use the star finder (or laser pen) to complete the first-star calibration.

3. When the first star is exposed for 5-8 seconds, focus on the fishbone plate (or display it in real time at the magnification of 10X), fine-tune and continue the exposure, and lock the focusing cylinder after fully focusing (be careful not to affect the exposure by vibration).

4. Continue to use the viewfinder (or camera observation window/display) to complete the Samsung calibration.

5. Go straight to the point.

6, high ISO blind follow 1 minute exposure, determine the target position.

7, the final reasonable composition (press the handle direction key or rotate the camera, blindly follow 1 minute shooting, observe and adjust)

8. The previous ones are all scraps, and it doesn't matter if you drag the line.

Fifth, guide the stars

1, the computer checks whether the star guide mirror has a guide star.

2. If there is no guide star, adjust the camera exposure parameters.

3. If there is still no guide star, take off the guide star camera, put on the eyepiece with appropriate focal length, and move the eyepiece back and forth to focus.

? (Remember: the original focus cannot be adjusted)

4. Adjust the six-point star guide ring to ensure that there are bright stars visible to the naked eye in the center of the eyepiece.

5. Replace the camera and recheck the guide star.

6, the implementation of the guiding star, check the work of each system.

7. When making a shooting plan, it is necessary to study the bright stars and magnitude around the shooting object.

Shooting and adjustment of intransitive verbs

1. Adjust cable release and perform 2-3 scheduled exposures.

2. Check and confirm the exposure, adjust the exposure parameters, observe the situation of guiding stars, and make appropriate adjustments.

3. Start long exposure after stabilization, and it is best to transfer the camera picture to the computer in real time (camera software has its own function).

Seven. follow-up work

1, check the photos after shooting.

2. Shoot the flat field. Facing the bright light source, the aperture is exposed first (it must be done on the main mirror).

3. Take off the camera, cover the lens cover, and shoot the dark field. The shooting parameters are consistent with the target exposure time.

4. If the target has multiple exposure times, pay attention to adjust the dark field exposure time by yourself and make corresponding records.

5. In the process of shooting, when changing targets or looking for guiding stars, you can appropriately block the main mirror and shoot dark fields.

6. Disassemble the equipment and put it back in their respective boxes.

Eight. List of required accessories:

1. main equipment: equatorial telescope, main mirror, accessory box, camera, several eyepieces and red headlights.

2. Star-finding accessories: star-finding mirror, laser pen, and laser pen holder (if there is no holder, you can use the laser pen to beat the light out of the star-finding mirror to assist in star-finding).

3, focusing accessories: fishbone plate (or camera real-time display 10X zoom focus)

4. Satellite guide fittings: satellite guide mirror, six-point bracket, satellite guide camera, data cable, USB to RS232 cable, 1/4 long screw for installing satellite guide mirror, small wrench or small needle-nosed pliers.

5. Power supply: lithium battery (or lead-acid battery), battery clip-on 12V round power cord (for homemade lead-acid), camera battery, and 220V-to-12V transformer (for connecting power supply at equator).

After the basic shooting is completed, you can try to use software control for automatic shooting.
