What are the photography skills for shooting active squirrels?

Have you ever met a squirrel in a forest or park? They move very fast, and often climb high and low, and their bodies are small. Taking beautiful pictures of squirrels is really luck. Here are some tips to help you improve your chances of success!

(Photographed by Michelle Schneider) Photo Canon EOS 700D focal length 50mm shutter 1/400 secs aperture f/ 1. 8 ISO 400

(a) Immediately enter the shutter prerequisite (S mode/TV mode). I usually meet squirrels, just in time, and I don't have much time to prepare. Once I encounter it, I suggest making these settings immediately:

1。 Go to shutter priority mode (S mode/TV mode).

2。 Raise the shutter to at least 1/200 seconds.

3。 ISO may be higher. Considering the brightness of the environment at that time and the maximum aperture of the lens, ISO400 or above is recommended.

4。 Continuous shooting or single shot is also ok.

5。 Single-point focusing, focusing on squirrels accurately.

(2) Adjust the composition angle

Try shooting at the level of squirrels, just like shooting other animals. Sometimes I even have to shoot on the ground.

(3) Find a clean background

Squirrels are usually small and get scared when they get close. So to highlight the little squirrel, you can find a clean background. If you cooperate with a large aperture (as shown above, use f/ 1. 8 large apertures) can make better use of the shallow depth of field effect.

After reading the above three tips, I hope I can successfully capture the lovely side of squirrels next time I meet them!
