Wang Jiuliang's photographic experience.

Wildfire, smoke, accompanied by pungent smell, residential buildings hundreds of meters away greet the morning in gray smoke. In the open space next to this community, several tricycles come here to take out the garbage every day. Every two or three days, the garbage here will be dumped and burned.

The river is full of stinking garbage dumps, and there are red, white, yellow, gray and black garbage dumps everywhere. Several cows from a nearby farm go to the river to drink water every day. Cattle that drink enough water habitually come to the garbage dump to chew and look for something to eat. ...

In today's era of rampant consumerism and GDP-oriented, it is not easy to realize Wang Jiuliang's simple wish. Shandong people asked, "Don't you think the direction of the whole society may be wrong?" He hopes that the government can see this and stop to think about it. "Changing ideas is much more useful than dealing with one or two garbage dumps."

"Pack it in a plastic bag and take it downstairs and throw it into the trash can of the community. Then, garbage has nothing to do with me. " Before, like most people living in cities, Wang Jiuliang never paid attention to where the garbage around him went. During his four years in college, he rode his beloved Zongshen cross-country motorcycle countless times in the wilderness in the suburbs of Beijing, letting the pit full of all kinds of garbage slip in front of him. Subconsciously, "this is the work of sanitation personnel."

Until 2008, this young photographer, who was fascinated by China folk culture at that time, returned to the field in Anqiu, his hometown, in order to create a conceptual photography work called Belief in Ghosts and Gods.

"Wenshui clarifies the point of Egypt, and Lushan embraces the sunset." The ancients were intoxicated by the local green mountains and green waters. In Wang Jiuliang's memory, his hometown is a small pond, where fish and tadpoles haunt from time to time, and frogs can be heard nearby. But at this time, what is presented to him is the ubiquitous discarded pesticide packaging plastic bags.

"When something suddenly shakes your heart, you really realize the problem and really start thinking about it." Wang Jiuliang's mind suddenly flashed the garbage dump he had seen in the suburbs of Beijing-a shooting plan about garbage was brewing.

Track the garbage trucks with motorcycles, find the locations of the surrounding garbage dumps, then calculate their shapes on GOOGLEEARTH, and then mark all blocks with similar shapes. Soon, Wang Jiuliang found that hundreds of points on the map actually surrounded the capital of the motherland.

From Tongzhou and Chaoyang to Fengtai, from Changping and Haidian to Mentougou, Wang Jiuliang drove into the garbage dump according to the marks on the map. There, he saw "surreal movies": couples took wedding photos by the stinking Wenyu River and put on various shapes; A sheep caught by a bride has just climbed out of the garbage; Residents around the dump complained to him that they were afraid to open the window in summer to escape the disgusting stench. Every time they spray drugs at home, there are dead flies everywhere. Near a residential area in Liyuan, near a stinky pond with plastic bags and various foreign objects floating, Wang Jiuliang also witnessed someone fishing in the dark green stinky water. Faced with the question of whether fish can still be eaten, anglers shrugged off it: "I won't eat it." But the small restaurant on the street will want it. "

Wang Jiuliang observation-garbage besieged city

"The water you drink, the air you breathe and the food you eat may all be polluted by garbage." I really appreciate Du Dexie's joke about urban matrix theory in the movie Crazy Stone, because "living in it, we are inextricably linked, and there is nowhere to escape". ...

Now, the scavengers in the image have all left the former "scene", and they have moved to other places with the garbage. The remaining huge garbage dump will be the venue for the 20 13 World Expo. But we know they haven't disappeared. They are still here.
