Because you are using D3000 and there is no focusing motor in the fuselage, 50mm F/ 1.8D and 50mm F/ 1.4D are not recommended (unless you like manual focusing). I suggest you buy a G-head. I tried focusing manually, but it was very troublesome. It's ok to shoot still life, and it's too late to focus when you meet a fast moving object.

In addition, D3000 is an APS-C format camera, and the 50mm fixed focus on it is all Quan Huafu, which is equivalent to 75mm when used on your machine. Indoor portraits are not flexible enough, and most of them are close-ups. So I suggest you buy Nikon 35mm f/1.8g. This head is still very cost-effective, and its flexibility is better than 50 mm, but it may be weaker than 50 mm. Of course, this is only my personal suggestion. What you need depends on yourself.
