The organizational history of Gongshu District

The canal has been fragrant for thousands of years, and Gongshu has been prosperous since ancient times. At the end of the Neolithic Age, there were human activities in the Shuitianfan area of ??Gaoting Village, Shangtang Town. Since the Sui and Tang Dynasties, Gongshu has been an important water and land transportation route from north to south and a prosperous commercial port. By the Southern Song Dynasty, thanks to the convenient canal water transportation, it became a goods distribution center for merchants from all walks of life. From Daguanqiao to Mishi Lane, "department stores converged, merchants gathered, and thousands of boats kept going back and forth." It became famous The "Hometown of Wealth in the Southeast" in the world. The "Beiguan Night Market" in the Yuan Dynasty became one of the eight scenic spots in Qiantang. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, markets such as Beixin, Jiacheng, Deshengqiao, and Maiyuqiao were added, creating the famous "Ten Mile Silver Lake Villa" at home and abroad, and forming famous "Jiacheng Moonlight Night", "Doumen Spring Rise", "Doumen Spring Rise", The eight sceneries of Hushu are represented by "Spring Red Halfway", "Late Green on the West Mountain", "Crying Orioles in the Flower Garden", "Snow Covered in Gaoting", "Dusk Rain on the River Bridge" and "Baidang Smoke Village". The history of Gongshu District can be traced back to the end of the Neolithic Age.

From the Qin to the Tang Dynasty, it belonged to Qiantang County; from the Song to the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Renhe County; it began to belong to Hang County in 1912, and Hangzhou City was established in 1927 as the sixth and eighth districts.

After the liberation of Hangzhou in May 1949, the Hangzhou Municipal People's Government decided to change the eighth district to Gongshu District.

In 1959, it became the Gongshu District People’s Commune Association, and its jurisdiction expanded to Shangsi, Liuliu, Sandun, Dongtang, Liangzhu and other places.

In April 1960, it was established as the People's Commune of Gongshu District. In addition to the urban area, it had jurisdiction over the three people's communes of Xiangfu, Shangtang and Kangqiao. In July 1961, the district organization was restored. In May 1969, it was Three people's communes were designated, and Xixi Street in Xihu District was included.

In 1972, Xixi Street was placed under the jurisdiction of Xihu District.

In February 1990, Gongshu District and Banshan District of Hangzhou City were abolished, and an administrative area based on the original Gongshu District and Banshan District New Deal Area was established as a new district, named Gongshu District.

In January 1996, Shiqiao Township and Dongxin Street were placed under Xiacheng District, and Xiangfu Town in Xihu District was placed under Gongshu District.
