On how to guide students to summarize the main contents of the text

As the primary stage of middle school, "grasp the main content of the article and experience the thoughts and feelings expressed in the article." From the beginning of this semester, that is, from the fifth volume, we must attach importance to the cultivation of students' ability to summarize the main contents of the text. This can not only better grasp the central idea of the article, gain knowledge and education, but also improve children's ability of analysis and generalization.

How to cultivate students' ability to summarize the main contents of the text? Taking the text in Unit 2 of Volume 5 as an example, I tried the following different methods to guide students how to summarize the content according to different texts in their study.

Keyword prompt method:

1. It is not a simple thing for children in Grade Three to grasp the main content of a text and summarize it. It is a good way to reduce students' difficulty and achieve good results by displaying key words in the text through courseware and letting students connect the contents of the text with these words. For example, when teaching the article "Little Photographer", I started with dictation words to test students' mastery of new words, and randomly selected words such as "sunshine, Gorky, sudden, paper ball, fiddling, preparation, movie, car, magazine", and then asked students to summarize the main contents of the text according to the above words, so that students could basically speak clearly and fluently.

2. Find the "six elements" method: articles about writing people's notes generally contain what we often call "six elements"-time, place, people and events (including cause, process and result). In teaching, we can help students find these basic elements through guidance, and then connect some words into a smooth sentence, which is the main content of the article. For example, I can use this method to guide students to sum up the six elements of the event, and then connect them in fluent language, and basically sort out the main contents of the text.

3. Combination of paragraph and meaning: a paragraph summarizes the main content of a paragraph. Summarizing the general idea of each paragraph is the main content of the whole article. This is the most commonly used method. For example, Li Siguang is a famous geologist in China. When I was a child, Li Siguang played hide-and-seek with his classmates and became interested in a boulder. By consulting teachers and studying in Britain, I gradually understood the reasons; I went back to my hometown to inspect and achieved research results that shocked the world. This text has a natural paragraph of 10, and its length is also very long. In teaching, we can guide students to summarize the meaning of each natural paragraph first, or summarize the general idea of paragraphs related to the meaning, and then connect them in series to sort out the main content of this text.

To sum up the main contents, we should also pay attention to two points: first, there are often one or two key paragraphs in an article, and only by judging accurately can we sum up the main contents correctly. The second is to summarize the main contents of the language concisely. Summarize the main content of an article, with fewer sentences, but clear and focused. Therefore, we should organize and use language properly on the basis of careful reading.
