Life customs of Qiang nationality
Both men and women wear cotton or brocade robes (home-made homespun or linen in the past), which are loose and look like cheongsam.
Men's clothes are knee-high, and some women's shirts and instep. Color changes with age. Middle-aged and elderly people are mostly single blue and black, and young girls like bright colors. The collar, cuffs and lapels are inlaid with flowers, the oblique lapels are inlaid with patterns one to three fingers wide, and some are inlaid with plum blossom-shaped silver ornaments, all of which are handmade.
Step 2 prescribe diet
Qiang people have a rich diet. The staple food is mainly corn, potato, wheat and highland barley, supplemented by buckwheat, oil wheat and various beans, and the variety of vegetables is diverse. The traditional diet includes stirring, steaming corn, "gold covered with silver" or "gold covered with silver", potato Ciba, boiled potatoes and pork chops.
Step 3 travel
The Qiang area has high mountains and narrow valleys, and the traffic is dangerous. With wisdom, the Qiang people built bamboo cable bridges, "hanging pipes and crossing cables" and wooden bridges, and also dug a plank road. In ancient times, the cable bridge was called "Mao", which tied bamboo ropes to the solid objects on both sides of the river valley. There are no nails or piers, but many bamboo ropes are used to cross the river side by side, and boards are laid to connect people and animals.
Step 4 dance
Qiang dance style is simple and elegant, rough and beautiful. It is mainly divided into four categories: self-entertainment dance, sacrificial dance, ritual dance and assembly dance. The basic movements are consistent and each has its own characteristics. The most representative types of self-entertainment dance are "Salon" and "Step by Step", which are closely related to festivals and festive activities.
Step 5 get married
Before the founding of New China, the marriage of Qiang men and women followed the instructions of parents and matchmakers, and there appeared such marriage forms as "belly marriage", "embrace marriage", "boy marriage" and "buying and selling marriage". Marriage pays attention to the right family, and there are customs of changing rooms, adopting children and robbing marriage. After the founding of New China, autonomous marriage gradually became the majority. But the traditional etiquette procedure has been preserved to this day.
With the development of Qiangzhai economy, people's lives have been improved, and the ancient wedding ceremony has also added new content. The combination of tradition and modernity gives full play to the traditional culture of the Qiang people and adds a festive atmosphere.
