The history of the Jose Prize

From 65438 to 0956, three photographers in Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, Ben van Mirendonk, Keith scherer and Wieseman expanded a national photo competition in the Netherlands into an international photo competition, and established the permanent organization "Netherlands World Press Photo Foundation". The purpose of the Foundation is to arouse and enhance people all over the world's extensive interest in news photography, spread information and strengthen international mutual understanding.

The organizers of the Dutch World Press Photo Contest emphasize and encourage photographers to go deep into the scene, take risks and advocate creative and expressive methods.

The winners of the World Photojournalism Competition have always been western photographers, but with the rapid increase of participants from developing countries, photographers from China have also won many awards in this competition.
