Causes of frostbite

If the temperature is too low, such as-15℃, bare fingers will be frostbitten; At -5℃, fingers began to ache and numb; Frostbite can also occur in exposed limbs at 7 ~ 8℃ for a long time.

Performance of frostbite

Frostbite is divided into three degrees.

1? First degree frostbite

Pale and numb skin, leading to congestion, edema, itching and pain.

2? Second degree frostbite

In addition to redness and swelling of the skin, there will be blisters of different sizes. Yellow water flowed out after the blisters burst, and the skin felt hot and painful.

3? Third degree frostbite

Local skin or limb necrosis, bloody blisters, purple-brown skin, local sensation disappeared.

Rescue measures for frostbite

Once frostbitten, patients can actively move and massage the frostbitten part to promote blood circulation. You can use pepper, mugwort leaves, eggplant stalks, etc. to smoke and wash, soak in boiling water, and then apply chilblain cream.

Second-degree and third-degree frostbite should be separated from the low temperature environment as soon as possible to keep warm and promote limb rewarming. Snow rubbing, fire roasting or warm water soaking are not allowed, otherwise frostbite will be aggravated.

Second-degree frostbitten blisters can be disinfected and punctured to let yellow water flow out and then bandaged. If the wound is damaged, it shall be treated as an infected wound.

For the wounded with low body temperature, in order to promote rewarming, the whole body can be immersed in the bath, and the bath water temperature can be kept at 35 ~ 42℃.
