Reflection on warlords: Romantic and cruel men play the role of sworn brothers, each killing an outsider. From now on, the brother's life is life, and everything else can be killed. Accept warlords and become brothers; Life and death depend on each other, and good luck and bad luck help each other; Happiness and misfortune depend on each other, and adversity helps each other; Those outsiders who mess with my brother will kill them and watch the warlords; If you mess with my brother, his brother will be killed. Look at the warlords. Compared with the warlords, which lasted more than three hours, the released version seems to be missing some important plots, such as Brothers Company.

The warlords: a man's drama in which romance and cruelty coexist

Brothers become sworn, each killing an outsider. From now on, the brother's life is life, and everything else can be killed.

Accept warlords and become brothers; Life and death depend on each other, and good luck and bad luck help each other; Happiness and misfortune depend on each other, and adversity helps each other; Outsiders will be killed if they provoke my brother. Look at warlords. If you mess with my brother, his brother will be killed. Look at the warlords.

Compared with the warlords, which lasted for more than three hours, the released version seems to be missing some important plots, such as "Brothers become sworn brothers, each killing an outsider." In this plot, Andy Lau's sentence "Remember my appearance and avenge me in the next life." Unfortunately, I didn't see it in the film.

Of course, this does not prevent warlords from becoming a successful example of a costume blockbuster. It's been a long time since such a blockbuster costume made my blood boil. Director Chen Kexin has a strong control and tells the audience about a troubled time.

"He said that he climbed out of the dead pile that day and he was already dead." From this narration, a movie of a hot-blooded man began. Even though it is bloody, this film is directed by Chen Kexin after all. After reading Sweet Honey and If Love, or earlier A Tale of Two Cities, you can appreciate the romantic feelings in Chen Dao's bones. So is this movie. Cruel romance is my greatest experience.

The story is adapted from the stabbing horse case, one of the four unsolved cases in Qing Dynasty. To stab a horse means to assassinate Ma Xinyi, the governor of Jiangsu Province. This is the role played by Jet Li in the film. Ma Xinyi in the original work is an ambitious figure, and the victory of the war is still far from his goal. Jet Li's portrayal of the role is in place, which accords with the director's romantic feelings rather than realistic feelings. He hoped that the poor would no longer be bullied and asked the queen mother to reduce taxes. The romantic model essay is original, and Pang Qingyun's fate is doomed to be tragic, because those officials are more realistic than him.

The role of Andy Lau will not understand when he dies. Different societies have different rules of the game, which is also the law of survival. At the last moment, he still saved his brother and called him big brother, which was touching. Takeshi Kaneshiro's character is cute, but also sad. He is too simple to turn his back on the warlord.

Some viewers say that this movie is anticlimactic, which I am puzzled. The duel between Takeshi Kaneshiro and Jet Li at the end of the film is also a duel of brotherhood and subversion under the rule of "warlords". At the beginning of the salute, the sudden shot behind can well represent the director's skill in setting the details. When Jet Li fell to the ground and uttered the word "warlords", it was the return of human nature. He would rather die at the hands of his brothers because he violated the "warlord" than die of ignorance.

There are some things that need not be questioned. None of the three protagonists got the truth before they died, but they all got their own understanding of things, just like the prototype of the story, the Spurs case, which itself is an eternal mystery.

The only female role, Xu, didn't play many roles, but she did well. The intuitive feeling that her heart is higher than the sky and her name is thinner than paper made her suffer and succumb to reality. Xu has a good grasp, neither more nor less. The plot of the second half of the play basically shaped the dignified temperament of learning piano, chess, calligraphy and painting from an early age, which is also a highlight of this film.

The chase scenes in the trenches, the use of Go and Peking Opera, and the parallel editing of games and wars show the director's more comprehensive ability. It is worth mentioning that the score of chan kwong wing, the royal musician of chan kwong wing was directed by Liu Weiqiang, and the score of Infernal Affairs series was written by him. Cello and electronic music are widely used in the whole film, and the large-scale application of electronic music in costume films is rare in the past. Personally, it is an innovation. Of course, many academic schools think this is an innovation.

In short, "warlords" will definitely rekindle the enthusiasm of many audiences who have lost confidence in ancient costume blockbusters.
