In the early years of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty (1875), he went to Luohe to build an ancestral temple for Li Lianfang, a bachelor of Hanlin. After completion, there were some stains on the white wall, and a dragon was painted with indigo water. Li Lianfang saw the dragon lifelike and called it a "magic pen". From then on, Gan Tang was famous for his paintings. Later, he traveled to Xing 'an, Xi and other places to sell paintings for a living. When I was in Xi 'an, I first drew a bamboo garden and hung it on the door of the south yard. The bird wanted to drop the bamboo branches and scratched the paper, which made it famous in the provincial capital for a while. Ten years (1884), the governor of Shaanxi Province, Lu, asked for a portrait of Gan Tang. After painting, Lu said that today's photography may not pass. Offered to have a daughter, but Gan Tang was adamant. Twenty-six years (1900), Eight-Nation Alliance captured Beijing, and Ye Lashi (Empress Dowager Cixi) fled to Ann for refuge. Lu invited a famous painter to an Palace to paint for him, but they all thought it was mediocre, so they asked Gan Tang to paint. Gan Tang dipped in ink and danced up and down. In less than a day, he drew a grape trellis and other patterns. Ye He Na Laplasse, after seeing him, lamented that he was a "rare product" and left Gan Tang to work, giving him a salary of five products.
