Color expression method of photography

Painters can paint colorful lives with colorful brushes, and photographers can shoot colorful worlds with cameras. Color is an important part of photography, and the world is more exciting because of color. Highlighting the subject of photography and increasing the visual appeal of the subject are the manifestations that need to be considered in the process of photography.

There are many ways to highlight the subject in photographic composition, such as putting the subject in a position that is easy to attract visual attention through the different composition rules of points, lines and surfaces of photos. Another example is to enlarge the proportion of the subject in the picture to show the absolute dominance of the subject. Of course, color can also be used to highlight the subject itself. Taro believes that there are probably several ways to express the subject through color in photography:

First, the contrast between cold and warm colors highlights the main body of composition

Through the difference between cold and warm colors, visual attention can be directed to the composition subject in the picture. As we all know, when the cool color is blue and the warm color is yellow, there will be obvious visual differences in colors. This kind of contrast can bring strong contrast, with which the difference between the subject and the environment can be highlighted.

For example, in the dim background of a cool environment, a warm lamp lights up, so the main body of the picture-the lamp is obviously noticed and highlighted.

Second, the subject keeps its unique color in the variety.

If the colors in the photo are mixed and colorful, and the overall painting style looks colorful, then the chaotic color mixing can easily lose the focus of the photo expression. If you want to highlight the subject, you can let the subject attract the attention of the viewer with a single and unique highlighted color and highlight the subject.

Third, the main multi-color and solid color backgrounds are separated.

If you shoot a solid background with a single tone, if the subject is in a state of rich colors, it will obviously have a huge contrast with the background, thus highlighting the subject. This way of highlighting the subject with color is usually used in the same type of multi-subject composition, which can make the composition orderly and enhance the visual impact.

Fourth, color and black and white.

This is a very common way to highlight the subject through color contrast, but it is difficult to shoot such an effect directly. Usually, it is necessary to retouch the picture later, and change the subject into a color environment to keep black and white, or put it in the past to change the subject into black and white of a color photo, and the effect is similar.

The above photography method of highlighting the subject with color is only Juan Taro's personal opinion and may not be comprehensive. Photographers are welcome to actively explore and supplement.
