Kaifeng City is abbreviated as "Bian", and in ancient times it was called Bianzhou, Bianliang, Bianjing and Kaifeng were renamed from "Kaifeng". Kaifeng is now Zhuxian Town. In the Western Han Dynasty, in order to avoid Emperor Jing Liu Qi's taboo of "replacing Kai with Kai", the name was changed to "Kaifeng". Kaifeng County was renamed Kaifeng County. Kaifeng is one of the first batch of national historical and cultural cities. It has a history of more than 4,100 years of city and capital construction, including the Xia Dynasty, Wei State during the Warring States Period, and the Later Liang, Later Jin, Later Han, and Later Han Dynasties during the Five Dynasties period. The Zhou, Song, and Jin dynasties established their capitals here, so it is called the ancient capital of the Eight Dynasties.

Kaifeng is the fifth city on our Henan trip, and we plan to stay for 4 days.

Day 1

1.1 Kaifeng Mansion

Today we will take the K-head train from Xinxiang City at 8:50 pm and check into the Home Inn (No. 23) near Kaifeng Bus Station. , you can use tools such as AutoNavi to find Home Inns or Hanting Hotels near the train station. The Home Inn Hotel we stayed at is located right after exiting the train station and passing by the bus station and bus terminal. After arriving in Kaifeng, we made timely adjustments based on the Kaifeng Municipal Government’s efforts to expand and strengthen tourism mainly around the ancient city of Bianliang in the Northern Song Dynasty. We also made timely adjustments based on the strategy we made beforehand and considering the distance and traffic conditions of specific scenic spots.

The selection of attractions was based on the following factors: First, Kaifeng Mansion and Bao Gong Temple are not far apart, both in Gulou District. It is very convenient to take a bus from the bus terminal near where we live to Kaifeng Mansion. Second, there is a night view in the Riverside Garden during the Qingming Festival. If you go in the afternoon and return in the evening, you can enjoy the scenery during the day and at night, which is the best of both worlds.
