Road trip, New Mexico. What's interesting in New Mexico?
Memorial Day is my first holiday since I joined the work. I bite my bullet and take Friday off. Even last Monday became a four-day holiday.
Go out to play with my former high school classmates this time. I started from Seattle and she started from California. I told her I wanted to go to New Mexico and they hit it off.
When I said I was going to New Mexico, many people didn't understand. There are so many interesting places in America, why should I go to New Mexico? It's desolate, boring and unsafe. But I went without hesitation.
There are two reasons:
First of all, the little girl feels that she has been to all parts of the United States except Yellowstone National Park. At that time, everyone suggested many places to me, and I said I had been there. They said, well, besides going abroad, we can only go to New Mexico.
Secondly, as soon as I saw the White Sands Park in New Mexico and the mud hut in Santa Fe, I felt I had to go. I told Jackie Chan that two people spent a lot of money to buy a red dress on Taobao, which was shipped from China and specially came to Baisha to play.
So, the itinerary was finalized.
Before we go, there is another episode. In mid-April, Sister Chen and I finalized the itinerary and prepared two girls to drive by car. It takes 16 or 7 hours to drive all the way down. However, neither of us got a driver's license when we bought the plane ticket. Jackie Chan took the exam three times and finally got her driver's license in early May. I took the exam in mid-May, but my driver's license didn't arrive on the day of departure. Both of them are very happy to go on the road with a temporary driving license.
Finally, there is another important purpose of going to New Mexico this time, that is, going to Baisha is not my drone. Two weeks before departure, I went hiking with my classmates and was circled by Marvic. I dreamed that it would be beautiful if I could fly a drone in Baisha, so I ordered Marvic Combo online that night. At that time, there was a discounted version online, which was nearly 100 yuan cheaper, but it would take more than a month to deliver it, so I gritted my teeth and bought an expensive one, which was delivered in a week.
In this way, the first trip of two novice female drivers after employment began.

Hahaha, I couldn't help taking a beautiful picture of my inner wild power.
Accommodation, food and other dry goods. Are left behind. Please jump directly to the right if necessary.
We arrived at Baisha at 3 pm. We can ask for some relevant information in the visitor center. My little sister will tell you where is suitable for hiking. There is a sunset tour at night, free of charge, to introduce you to the history of Baisha. Many travel notes on the Internet publicized the trip. We wanted to attend, but we had a good time and missed it.
There is a video to watch in the visitor center, which is about the animals, vegetation and alternate seasons of drought and flood in Baisha. Where the white sand is not drained, it will flow to the lowest place when it rains, and then it will become a lake. By then, the sky and the earth will be reflected in a vast expanse of whiteness, but there is no way to drive, so we didn't go there. At that time, I thought that this video had learned a lot, so I didn't go to the Sun Set Tour.
Oh, by the way, it is said that there are horses and camels in Baisha. I asked my little sister at that time. Miss Jie said that we don't provide it here. If we do, we can ride, enter and walk.
I bought a sand table at the door and drove forward.
I really can't describe the beauty of white sand in words. It's like going to a new world. It's white, nothing, everything is buried.
And this whiteness is completely different from the snow in Alaska. Oh, you ask me why? Do you have to ask? It snows very cold. Show me your skirt when it snows in Alaska. Let me see.
It wasn't long before Sister Chan and I left, and it became a fun photography mode ~ ~
I brought a SLR, a tripod, a drone, my sister Chan brought a selfie artifact, and a big red gold. A friend on foot passed by us and asked if we were professional photographers and wanted to take a photo with us. We said, no, just for fun.
Later, it was getting dark, and we couldn't catch the sunset, so we sat down and watched.
To tell the truth, you must watch the sunset when you come to Baisha. It's beautiful.
To put it mildly, the sunset has plated a layer of gold on everything in the world, as if everything had become gentle. Later, a faint mystery appeared on the horizon, as if you were in a fairy tale world.
Well, to put it bluntly, the sun is finally not dazzling, and I can finally open my eyes and take pictures.

Finally, a word of advice to the incoming package, don't wear a split skirt like me. Demons and thieves are big, naked people with long hair can tie them up, otherwise they can only show the visual sense of Mei Chaofeng. Come on, I'm not afraid of shame. Let me give you a negative example ~ ~

Santa Fe
The next morning, I drove three hours to Santa Fe.
I have to say, I still like driving on the roads in New Mexico. Google Maps told me to follow this road 1 10 miles, and not to turn. So, my sister Chen and I continued our journey. Really, accidentally stepping on the gas pedal is 100 mile. There are vast wasteland on both sides, and 60mile has the illusion that the car will stop slowly.
Santa Fe is a small city with excellent literature and art. It's almost three o'clock after lunch, so we went to the O'Keefe Museum in Georgia first. For a girl who is not very literary, I don't think the ticket for 13 yuan is worth the money.
Georgia O'Keefe is an abstract painter living in New Mexico. I have seen many exhibitions before, but the first time I saw an abstract art exhibition, I looked at Zen sister and looked at each other puzzled. There is a picture that can't be photographed, that is, a blue hook on a white background. Then it is said that the painter stood on the balcony and saw the road in front of his house and felt it.
Uh,-
I must lack artistic skills.
Some pictures have good colors, but I really can't understand them. Stick them here as a souvenir.
After that, go to the square. The whole city is within walking distance. This is the essence of Santa Fe. You can basically go to the gallery step by step. Just looking around. However, any painting is basically thousands. You can only watch, but you can't buy.
In Santa Fe, a wonderful ancient city was discovered!
We live in El Rey, and this hotel is also very good. Woke up the next morning, we took photos in the hotel ~ ~
Before leaving, I discussed with the hotel staff and went to the canyon, which is a part of the old city. There are some unique buildings here. I took photos here and went to TAOS in the afternoon.
Taos
TAOS is like a wild version of Santa Fe.
We drove around three o'clock in the afternoon and arrived at Taos Pueblo. This is an Indian reservation, a small house built of mud, which made me return to the northwest for a moment.

Maybe people here seldom see people from China. You see, Sister Chen and I are both enthusiastic and talkative. Someone always stopped us in everyone's room and asked us where we came from, saying that we were super cute. An old man who bought skewers heard that we were from China and said that his grandson loved noodles. If he can go to China, he will be so excited that he will even call out his wife and say that the two girls are from China.
I also chatted with a big sister who bought clothes and said that I felt that their home was very dark. She said there was no electricity here, the house had no doors and windows, and the lighting was not good. There are no doors and windows to keep warm, so people climb ladders to come in from the roof, which explains why there are ladders in front of every household. Later, in the new era, doors and windows were cut on the top of the house.

Jackie Chan said that the best way to strike up a conversation is to find an Indian brother? Uncle. We are coming out from the gate of the scenic spot to get the car. An Indian brother drove out of the gate of the scenic spot. Then he parked the car next to us, rolled down the window and asked where we came from, thanking us for being interested in their culture and playing here.
I don't think they are easy either. Originally aborigines, it must be very bitter to be forced to the desolate central part because of the invasion.
After that, I went downtown. TAOS has more conscience than Santa Fe, at least I can afford it.
There is a second-hand recycling shop that is super awesome. As a science and engineering girl, she was circled in an instant.
There are necklaces made of resistors, key chains made of circuit boards and earrings made of sawdust. I didn't buy many souvenirs along the way, so I kept chopping them in this shop. Haha, I feel that the aesthetics of science and engineering girls are also very strange. I haven't wiped anything on the car keys before. My friend said that I don't look like a girl, and I don't even have an ornament. This time, I put on my circuit key chain, and I think I can be a boy completely.

There is also a small shop next to it, selling mints of various flavors, chocolate flavors and various sugar flavors. The boss warmly invited us to taste them. After eating, we both smiled at each other and decided to buy it. After that, I bought all the flavors. The packaging is also exquisite. Send it to friends when you come back, and the favorable rate is 100%. Someone asked me if I remember the name of the store and wanted to buy it online haha ~
On the last morning, I got up and took a photo in the hotel. The homestay we stayed in TAOS was very popular (written in the place where we lived later).
I feel like a local tyrant by their breakfast circle. You can also order by yourself. Breakfast is very rich, from milk and fruit to hot dishes.
Then I went to the Rio Grande Canyon Bridge. A rift that stretches for dozens of miles. I originally wanted to fly the drone and thought it would be spectacular. But as soon as I flew, I was told that I couldn't fly here, saying that some animals would chase drones, which would affect normal life, so I stopped. I'm not skilled enough. Although it flew a little, the exposure was not adjusted yet. Cry-

ABQ
On my way back, I passed Sandia Peak again. Located in the northeast corner of Albuquerque, it can ski in winter and overlook Albuquerque and nearby mountains in summer. At that time, I read the raiders and said I would push here, so I went. This is the only cloudy day we catch up with. The wind was so strong that when we stood on the top of the mountain, we were blown to death. It began to thunder when we went down the mountain. It's terrible. The announcer said that we should all go down the mountain, because it would be dangerous if it rained and thundered.
Then everyone crowded into the small cable car, the wind was super strong, the cable car didn't close the window, and everyone was shivering with cold. The whole journey took nearly 20 minutes, but halfway through, the cable car suddenly stopped and then suddenly began to go backwards. Everyone in the car was shocked, and then the flight attendant quickly called the pick-up station below and said that there was an empty car coming up to pick up tourists. Because it is too light, the wind will blow it in a mess, and it will hit the next pillar and us, so we have to go back, fill it with water, sink a little, and come again.
So we must be sent to the origin, and when they are full of water, we will come down again.
A little brother in the car joked that it was cloudy, the top of the mountain, the cable car and the power failure, and I felt that I could show a horror movie.
I really think the scenery is average, the mountains are bare, there are no trees, and it is not beautiful. Only when they take the cable car will the children scream with excitement. I think this may be because there are too few cable cars here in America. Unlike the mountains in China, there are few cable cars. I personally don't recommend this scenic spot if it's not for hiking.
The last stop before returning to ELP is ABQ. It is famous because it is the shooting place of Breaking Bad. Neither Chen Jie nor I are idiots, so we didn't go to the car wash, the old white house or the fried chicken shop. Let's get down to business. There is a shop called Lady Candy in the old city, which has been open for more than 30 years. (No.424, NW, san felipe, photo album) You can buy classic blue xx-shaped candy (which tastes like rock candy, 10 yuan) and countless postcards, T-shirts, mugs and other souvenirs in the play. Naturally, it's expensive, but it's a good choice to take it back to the brain-dead students who like Breaking Bad.
This photo gives people the impression of one thing: ah, I found it after doing something bad. If you find it, you will find it. Who's afraid of who? ~
food
I have to say, before I came to New Mexico, I didn't know Mexican food could be so delicious.
The mode we choose to visit is to randomly choose on yelp, basically giving a four-and-a-half-star rating, and then the reviewer is at 400, without stepping on the thunder at all.
At first, I refused to take my sister to a Mexican restaurant, but later I found it really delicious, which refreshed my understanding of Mexican food. Delicious and cheap. I suggest you try more.
scheduling
Check in El Paso at 2 pm on the first day.
The next morning 10 set out for Baisha.
Leave Baisha at 9 o'clock on the third day to go to Satan Fei. Stay in Santa Fe at night.
Go to TAOS on the fourth day. Check in Taos.
On the last day, I left TAOS, passed ABQ and returned to ELP.
The hotel I stayed in this time has two strong pushes.
One is in Santa Fe, called El Rey Court. There are three reasons for recommendation.
The price is reasonable, and there are some expensive hotels in Santa Fe.
Nice scenery, lovely small blue and white house, suitable for taking pictures inside, with a little Mediterranean flavor;
Excellent service: I have to praise this. I booked the room at the wrong time, but the day before. When I checked in, I found that it was equivalent to yesterday's room rate. I'm not here to live. But the girl at the front desk confirmed that we had placed the wrong order and gave us a refund. Because we booked it on Expedia, we have a policy of no refund after it expires. She also said that if Expedia called her, she could get a refund.
Thanks to my little sister and Expedia.
The other is at the Taos Casa Benavides Hotel.
Living in this shop means living in their small adobe house with special pottery. This breakfast is delicious.
Scenic spot selection
Because my sister Chan and I are both new drivers on the road, and because the rest time is too short and there are only two girls, we avoided several famous national parks and only went to the art city.
In fact, there is also the largest cave in the United States near Baisha Park, where bats can be seen. There are also several famous bald mountains around Santa Fe, which specialize in hiking, but my sister Chan and I didn't feel interested, so we didn't go. However, students who are interested and have time still recommend it.
The two major airports in New Mexico are Albuquerque and Santa Fe. It is said on the Internet that Albuquerque is bigger, and air tickets may be cheaper ~ It is more convenient to fly to Santa Fe, instead of driving to Santa Fe. It is also close to Taos, but it feels that there are fewer flights and the price will be more expensive. The nearest to White Sands Park is El Paso Airport in Texas. It takes about an hour and a half to drive there.
Finally, we chose El Paso airport to go back and forth, because the focus of our trip is Baisha, which is the nearest airport. Later, after verification, the price here is comparable to Albuquerque ~ ~ and there are more flights ~ so we finally chose here.
But in fact, we went to Taos, the northernmost place, which is quite far. It took us nearly six and a half hours to drive back to ELP from Taos on the last day, so if we don't want to come to ELP, we can save three hours without going back and forth from here.
Generally speaking, going to New Mexico for four days is a bit nervous.
