How to set the image quality of Nikon camera

1. If you take a JPG picture, the image quality will be affected to some extent, because the image is stored by lossy compression. There are three options for "image quality" in the shooting menu of Nikon digital SLR cameras, namely JPEG Fine, JPEG Standard and JPEG Basic, and the compression rates are 1:4, 1:8 and 1: 68 respectively. High compression ratio will lose image details. JPEG Fine has the lowest compression rate and the best image quality. In fact, experienced photographers will also choose the storage mode of RAW format (lossless recording of original information), and RAW format has no negative impact on image quality. It's just more complicated later. High-end SLR should choose the color bit depth stored in RAW format. Under the NEF(RAW) recording option, there are 12 bits (12 bits) and 14 bits (14 bits). Choose 14 bit color depth to record richer colors. The low-end SLR only has a color depth of 12, so this option is not available.

The camera also provides three basic dual storage schemes: NEF(RAW format) +JPEG fine, NEF(RAW)+JPEG standard and NEF(RAW)+JPEG.

2. Sensitivity ISO has a great influence on image quality. Usually, the image quality of low ISO is better, and noise will appear in high ISO. If the image is lost in noise, the image quality will be very poor. Each model of SLR has a different "tolerable ISO", such as the tolerable ISO of D8 10, which can reach about ISO3200.

In short, if you want to have good image quality, you must use the RAW format or JPEG fine storage mode, and the image size is the largest. In the case of good light, you must shoot at low ISO. High-quality pictures are rich in information and occupy a large storage capacity. For example, a high-quality picture file with 36 million pixels can reach more than 20MB. Now the price of memory cards is cabbage, so there is no need to save memory cards.
