It took him 30 years to experiment with his daughter and cultivate a world genius: can genius be cultivated the day after tomorrow?

Is it really right for the father to do the child prodigy experiment?

"If you give me 10 healthy babies, you can train 10 children into excellent scholars or excellent artists or super criminals according to my wishes through different training designs."

This is the view that Watson, the founder of behavioral psychology, once put forward to the US government.

People thought the idea was ridiculous, but a Hungarian psychology lecturer was moved. He is Laszlo Polga.

The idea of "cultivating children into prodigies" germinated, and Laszlo took his three daughters as the experimental objects and conducted experiments for 30 years.

Surprisingly, his educational experiments have trained three female prodigies in the chess world, all of whom have the title of chess grandmaster.

Laszlo himself became the father of the famous "Three Polgar Sisters" in chess, and his experiment was later called "Polga Experiment".

At the beginning of the experiment, Laszlo Polga read a lot of literature and studied the "success rules" of top talents in different industries.

Finally, he came to a conclusion that prodigies can be cultivated and practiced the day after tomorrow.

In other words, in his view, any healthy child has the potential to become a genius after birth, so we should seize their childhood and educate them early.

After laying a good theoretical foundation, Laszlo began the experiment, but the first step was to teach the children.

Children? Laszlo made another amazing move: he wrote to Clara, a foreign language teacher (and his pen pal) to propose marriage.

In the letter, Laszlo did not hide it from this friend. He spoke his mind directly, saying that he needed a like-minded wife and "cultivated a child prodigy".

It stands to reason that women who hear this alternative "proposal" will generally refuse, but I don't know why Clara agreed.

They got married soon, and then they had their first daughter, Susan Polgár, and the training plan of "child prodigy" began.

It is not easy for parents to raise an ordinary child. Obviously, Laszlo's goal is more ambitious.

Soon, they got something. Susan was an active child from birth, but one day, when she was three years old, she actually dug out a chess set by herself and was completely quiet in front of it.

Maybe it was just a whim?

After observing for a period of time, the couple found that chess really attracted Susan, unlike their interest in ordinary toys.

So Laszlo decided to teach his daughter to play chess.

Coincidentally, Laszlo is a chess lover, and there are many chess books at home, which provide better resources for Susan's "chess training".

After Susan started playing chess, Laszlo was surprised to find that her daughter was really focused on this matter, even focusing on the board for a long time.

After learning chess for six months, little Susan can really play a game of chess.

When Susan was immersed in the world of chess, her two sisters were born one after another. Laszlo thinks that it is better to experiment in the way of chess.

In early childhood education, compulsory intervention is easy to backfire, so Laszlo used psychological counseling in the education of his second daughter and youngest daughter.

How to make both the second daughter and the younger daughter interested in chess?

Laszlo thought of a way. When his eldest daughter Susan was practicing chess, he would deliberately close her door. At first, the two sisters didn't feel wrong. After a long time, they began to doubt:

What does my sister always do in the room alone?

Laszlo will tell them that her sister is playing a magical game. Of course, the two little girls won't listen and are clamoring to play.

In this way, under the influence of "peer effect", all three sisters started the road of chess.

This kind of psychological guidance does not belong to "compulsory intervention" to some extent.

Laszlo grasped the critical period of children's intellectual development in life, and the education and training of the three sisters began at an early age.

From stimulating children's interest to developing good habits and focusing on this matter, Laszlo did something that other parents would find incredible.

In their family, the daughters stopped going to school after they were 6 years old. Accurately speaking, they are enrolled in the beginning of the semester and have the final exam, but all their studies are at home.

The purpose of this is to give children enough time to learn chess. Of course, the couple didn't leave behind their daughter's cultural education: English, German, math ... they all taught it themselves.

It is not easy for girls to study at home. Every morning, they get up at 6 o'clock on time, go to the club to play table tennis at 7 o'clock to exercise, and then go home to practice chess together.

Discuss chess games with my father and sisters, practice chess games and make arrangements ... they will spend at least 5 hours playing chess every day.

Think about it this way, are children really not bored?

Mr. and Mrs. Laszlo took this into consideration, and they fully respected their children's other hobbies. For example, Susan likes small animals, she is in charge of all the pets at home, and her youngest daughter likes photography, so let her do it.

Besides practice, they also take their children to participate in family activities, swimming, table tennis and so on from time to time. When they go abroad to compete, they will definitely take time to take their daughters to visit museums and learn about history and humanities.

But there are also unchangeable rules at home: every night 10, girls should go to bed on time, and TV is also forbidden.

Their home is full of board games and countless chess manuals.

In order to let the girls get the best chess instruction, the couple also sold the legacy left by their father and invited famous chess players as coaches.

Under the strict but free cultivation, the three Polgar sisters gradually became famous.

When you are interested in something and devote yourself to it in the next 10 and 20 years, it is hard not to make achievements.

Laszlo didn't force his daughters to choose before learning chess. He just told them that if they choose, they can't give up.

In the process of accompanying the daughters to study, coupled with constant appreciation and trust, the children's self-confidence is still abundant. The youngest daughter once said in an interview that her father is the best motivator she has ever seen.

This experiment, which lasted for nearly 30 years, has achieved remarkable results.

Laszlo's eldest daughter Susan became a famous child prodigy in Hungarian chess history. She has never been to school, but she can speak five foreign languages. She started playing chess at the age of 4. At the age of 10, she participated in the domestic adult group competition and became a national master. She is also the first Hungarian chess player to win the world championship in history.

Laszlo's second daughter and youngest daughter are also quite a few.

Sophia, the second daughter, won the women's world championship at the age of 12, and became famous in Rome at the age of 14, and was called "Middle Polga".

As for Judy, the youngest daughter, she is recognized as the strongest female chess player in the world from the 20th century to the early 20th century. /kloc-at the age of 0/5, he became the youngest chess grandmaster in the world and defeated many men's world champions in various important competitions. Before retiring, he occupied the first place in the women's world for 25 years.

People say that she is a girl from another planet. Like her sisters, she has five foreign languages, superb logical judgment, imagination and psychological quality.

From this result, Laszlo's "child prodigy training" is successful, because his "experiment"-the three Polgar sisters has become a rare legend and phenomenon in the chess world.

Although many people don't agree with his "original intention of experiment", he left something very important in the way of education.

He proved that if a child can help them find their own potential, focus on it for a long time, devote himself wholeheartedly to it, and always build confidence for them, then the child will know how to make his dreams come true.

Before that, more importantly, in children's "interest cultivation", parents' role-playing is a balance between rules and freedom.
