The Origin and Implication of the Mascot of Hangzhou Asian Games

The mascot design of Hangzhou Asian Games is inspired by the local cultural elements and traditional mascot image of Hangzhou. Congcong means being brave and surpassing oneself, Lianlian means being open and hospitable, and Chen Chen means being active and brave.

The name Congcong comes from Yu Cong, a representative cultural relic unearthed from the site of Liangzhu ancient city. Exquisitely decorated jade cong is an important symbol of Liangzhu culture and exudes eternal charm. The main color of the whole body is yellow, which comes from the earth and symbolizes a bumper harvest. The headdress pattern is taken from the symbol of Liangzhu culture, which means "not afraid of difficulties, surpassing yourself".

"Lotus" represents the world heritage West Lake in the shape of a robot, and its name comes from the infinite blue lotus leaves in the West Lake. Lotus leaf is loved by people for its pure, noble and peaceful appearance.

"Chen Chen" represents the World Heritage Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal in the shape of a robot, and its name comes from the landmark Chen Gong Bridge in Hangzhou section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. The Chen Gong Bridge has a history of more than 400 years, and it carries beautiful memories from generation to generation.

Brief introduction of 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games

Originally scheduled for September 2022 10-25; On July 19, 2022, the OCA announced that it would be held from September 23rd to June 8th, 2023, with the same name and logo. As of February 65438+ in 2020, there are 40 major events in this Asian Games, including 3 Olympic events1and 9 non-Olympic events. At the same time, under the premise of keeping 40 major events unchanged, we will add two competitions, e-sports and break dancing.

The 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou is oriented as "China New Era Hangzhou New Asian Games", with the goal of "China's characteristics, Asian style and splendor", and adheres to the hosting concept of "green, intelligent, thrifty and civilized" and the hosting principle of "Hangzhou as the mainstay and the whole province sharing". From April 25, 2023, a three-day meeting of heads of delegation for the Hangzhou Asian Games was held in Hangzhou, and representatives from 45 Asian countries and regions attended the meeting.
