Ruan's life

1950 was born in a carpenter's family in Tou Town, Yilan County, Taiwan Province Province. In high school, I began to read books on literature and philosophy, and also began to draw pen-and-ink drawings. Many works were later used as book cover designs and magazine illustrations. After failing the college entrance examination, he didn't receive any school education. He worked as an editor before Little Lion Literature and Art, and then served in the army for three years. He began to write poems and novels in the army, and made a series of exchange visits to overseas China painters. After retiring, I worked for Han Sheng magazine and started taking photos. His works have been invited to hold photography exhibitions at home and abroad for many times, including the Paris Museum of Modern Art, the Shuibao Museum of Photography, the Nips Museum of Photography, the Victoria and Albert Museum in Britain, the Macau Art Museum, the Taiwan Province Provincial Art Museum and the Taipei Municipal Art Museum. 1975 ——1981year, worked as a photographer for Family Monthly and wrote articles on photography. 1981-1987, making TV programs. He has published more than 200 documentaries, such as Video Journey, Outdoor Notes, Ode to the Earth and Skillful Hands.

1988, teaching at Taipei University of the Arts.

1992, photographer magazine was founded.

From 1999, he and his wife, Yuan, worked together to produce a biography of Tzu Chi volunteers "Seeing the Bodhisattva" and a TV program "The Bodhisattva in Ruan's Lens" for the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation.
