Recently, a video about "naked man snatching a child on the street" was dubbed and circulated on the Internet in many places. Internet police in more than ten cities refuted the rumor through Weibo. On August 30, after verification with the police, the video actually took place in Beilun District, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province.
This viral video is about 10 seconds long, and the original content cannot be found. In the video, near a bank on a busy road, a naked man rushed towards a battery car and tried to forcefully pull out a child sitting in the back seat of the battery car. The crowd stopped him and controlled him.
Between August 27th and August 28th, this video was circulated in WeChat groups of citizens with multiple names, and was accompanied by words like "This happened in front of a local industrial and commercial bank." The words "child snatching incident" caused panic among people in many places. According to incomplete statistics, the video has been viewed in Chengdu, Leshan, Nanchong, Hongya, and Guangyuan in Sichuan; Nanyang in Henan; Shantou, Jiangmen, and Zhongshan in Guangdong; Xing'an in Guangxi; Yangcheng in Shanxi; Nanping and Ningde in Fujian; Wuhan and Huangshi in Hubei; and Hunan. It spread in Huaihua, Jingjiang of Jiangsu, Chuzhou of Anhui, Taizhou of Zhejiang and other places. At present, Internet police from 11 provinces and 19 regions have promptly refuted the rumors. The police reminded netizens who have forwarded it to please delete the false information. The police have issued education, admonitions and punishments to some malicious spreaders who forwarded false news without verifying the information.
On August 30, we verified with Taizhou police that the incident in the video occurred somewhere in Beilun, Ningbo on August 26, and was not in the major cities reported online. The man in the video is a patient with mental illness and was promptly controlled by the local police. Netizens do not need to be nervous. Remind everyone: Netizens can seek confirmation from the local police for online information that cannot be clarified or do not understand. Do not blindly listen to blind faith, do not spread information from unknown sources, and resolutely do not spread rumors, do not believe rumors, and do not spread rumors.
