Nanjing University of the Arts, located on the banks of the Qinhuai River and under the Stone City, is the only comprehensive higher art institution in Jiangsu Province. Dating back to 1912, Mr. Liu Haisu, the founder of Chinese art education, founded the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts. In 1930, it was renamed Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts. Mr. Cai Yuanpei served as chairman of the board of directors of Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts. He also wrote lyrics for the school song, school motto, and training. In 1922, Mr. Yan Wenliang founded Suzhou Fine Arts College in Suzhou. These two earliest private art schools in China merged with the fine arts and music departments of the Art Department of Shandong University in 1952 during the national adjustment of colleges and universities to form East China Art College, located in Sheqiao, Wuxi, Jiangsu. The merger was completed on December 8, and since then, this day has become the anniversary day of Nanjing University of the Arts. In 1958, East China Art College moved to Nanjing and was located in Dingjiaqiao. In June of the same year, it was renamed Nanjing Art College. In 1959, it was named Nanjing Art Institute and the academic system was changed to four years, thus finally completing the establishment of our institute. In 1967, it moved to No. 15, Huju North Road, Nanjing City. After nearly a century of construction and development, Nanjing University of the Arts has grown stronger through ups and downs and become stronger through vicissitudes of life. Today, Nanjing University of the Arts has developed into a comprehensive higher art institution with great influence at home and abroad. The college covers an area of ??more than 720 acres, with an existing campus area of ??160,000 square meters. There are 6,126 general undergraduate and junior college students, 49 doctoral students, 279 master's students, more than 90 international students, 1,935 adult teaching students, and 482 students from the attached middle school. Music performance, art design, painting, composition and composition technology theory are four brand majors and characteristic majors in Jiangsu Province. Fine arts and music are key disciplines in Jiangsu Province, and fine arts is a cultivation point for the construction of national key disciplines. There are more than 900 faculty members, 602 full-time teachers, 249 professors and associate professors, 16 doctoral supervisors, 57 master's supervisors, and more than 30 domestic and foreign visiting professors and part-time professors.
