The highest rank officer of the US military killed during World War II was Lieutenant General, with a total of four:

Frank. Mccoswell. Frank Maxwell Andrews/KLOC-0, Commander-in-Chief of the US Army in Europe, died in a plane crash while inspecting troops on May 3, 943;

Leslie. James. Lesley·James·McNair, commander of the US ground forces, was accidentally bombed by the US Eighth Air Force on July 25, 1944/KLOC-0 while inspecting the Normandy front.

Little Simon. Blavy. Buckner Jr., commander of the No.1 10 Army, was overthrown by Japanese artillery fire in Okinawa on June 1945+08;

Milad. Mi Leide Harmon, executive commander of the 20th Air Force, disappeared in the Pacific Ocean on February 25th, 1945, and was declared dead on February 25th, 1946.
