How to shoot creative macro photography?
The macro lens of 1: 1 is an excellent tool for close-up, just like an external flash. Contrary to what some photographers say, successful shooting is completely unnecessary. The trick of macro photography is to reduce the flash intensity to about-1.75 in TTL mode, which will highlight the smallest details in macro photos, such as the tentacles of butterflies. If you need less light, you can reduce the intensity by -2 or -3.
Step 2 pass through the petals
By adding visual interest to macro photography, it surpasses ordinary photography. By shooting petals or leaves, you can make the color soft and fuzzy, while keeping the subject in focus. The technique is simple, but the result looks complicated, reminiscent of impressionist painting. For this method, you may prefer to shoot freely without a tripod. When holding a camera in your hand, it is best to put it directly in front of the flower fragments.
3. Switch to manual focus mode.
Autofocus is effective for most types of photography. However, in close-ups, it may be difficult to find the focus. This is especially true for capturing very fine details, such as cobwebs. In this case, it is best to use the manual focusing mode by displaying or focusing the peak in real time. These options allow you to see the scene even at a very high magnification. Even if magnified 5 times or 10 times, there is no doubt that a certain area will be sharp.
4. Background selection
When taking macro photos, we should not overestimate the importance of the background. If the background is messy, it will distract the audience from the main body and make you spend time exploring the theme from all possible angles.
Filling pictures with subjects is an effective way to eliminate unnecessary distracting backgrounds. Because the macro lens can focus at close range, it can be carefully composed so that there are only flowers in the picture. In this way, a small aperture, such as f/ 16, can be used to obtain the maximum depth of field, and no soft focus area will distract the subject. For more dynamic shooting, please use the trisection method.
5. Shooting practice
The interesting idea is the slow shutter speed and camera movement, even if there is no macro lens, there is only basic zoom. First, put the flowers in the picture frame to make sure they are in focus. Now, you need to keep the maximum focal length, press the shutter completely and start shooting, and then zoom out immediately. You can also reverse this process, starting with a wide angle and gradually narrowing the angle.
